hey guys, to make a long story short, my buddy and myself did a timing chain on his sohc and scrwed the cam timing up (i think). We set the timing with the timing light and all the timing marks on the crankpulley are about 45-60 degrees counterclockwise from where they should be.

We have played with the dizzy to get it as close as possible... so please give me an idea of how many cam teeth to turn the cam to stock spec.

Set it at exact TDC and pull the distributor off (rotor should be pointing near #1 on the cap at TDC). Note the half-moon key orientation, from your description I will assume that it is pointing in the 1 or 2 oclock postion. Drop the oil pump and rotate the shaft counter-clockwise untill the key's flat edge is pointing in the 11 oclock posistion. Im not sure if it is 1 or 2 teeth off, but you will find out.

When properly installed your timing light should indicate about 18 degrees advance with the distributor rotated fully clockwise. Turn it back to 15 at 700-800rpm and lock it down.
