completely confused???!!!

i have a 89 coupe with a ka24e, it starts runs strong but will not stay idling when sitting still, iv cleaned the maf sens. but still have the problem. the car does not have an air filter at the moment that is how i got the car. i changed the fuel filter and that make the car run better. There are to valves in the back of the motor that have places for vacuum lines but they are not connected (sorry i dont know the names of them :( ), i think this may be it. also the car runs better with out the hood,??? i can not check codes there is no cluster. thanks

so i replaced the MAF sens.. and it ran a little better but still will not hold the idle very long.??

Maybe IACV ( Intake Air Control Valve ) ?

im going to have to check that i got home to late to do it today but i did find out that a good portion of my vacuum lines have cracks in them :/ go me..lol

i replaced the vacuum lines and found out that some of the sensors where not pluged in, and that my spark plug where bad, when trying to remove them one brok because it was in to tight, so tell i get new ones it sits.

Did you get a new air filter??? When you change the spark plugs it may run better! It could be your EGR?

i put a filter on it i change the Mafs and i replaced all the vaccum lines and in doing this i found out that the chassi ground was not connected 0_o, the tps was loose, i changed th plugs and it ran a little better but im still changing the rod bearings now so ill have to test it after i put it all back together. the things i get myself in to

i changed the bearings and it sounds better no knocking, the car got towed for no reason, i got it back for free my apartment management comp had to pay to get it out of impound and to get it towed back to my place and in the course of that some wires got pulled. sooo now im working on that

i got the car running and idaling. the iacv was madddd dirty and the set screw on the butterfly was missing

Get a newer used one and replace the iacv. Btw start posting up pics of loose vacuum lines and deleted emission items on your intake manifold
