Ok guys, this weekend my 1993 is getting the complete Timing Belt Kit done from Infiniti (timing belt, water pump, cam seals, drive belts, etc). The following weekend I plan on doing a COMPLETE tune-up, and I'm going to order the stuff tomorrow. This is what I'm grabbing so far, let me know if there is anything I missed:

Fuel filter (OEM)Spark plugs (OEM NGK)Front brake pads/turn rotors (OEM)Fuel additive (BG)Top engine cleaner before oil changeAir filter (OEM)transmission fluid (9 quarts of Amsoil synthetic)transmission service kit (pan gasket, filter, drain plug gasket, etc.) (OEM)Rear dfferential fluid (Amsoil synthetic)

Anything else I should order tomorrow? Thanks...

Lets see. if your doing brakes youll want some brake fluid, get valvoline synthetic, its good fluid. Get a quart and flush the entire system...!

Id also pick up some extra ATF and change your powersteering fluid, you dontnt have to get synthetic, just keep on top of keeping it changed. I have a small leak in my system, so every 2 months it will get just below the hatched line, thats enough reminderfor me to change the fluid....

Other than that your list looks comprehensive enough!! Good luck!

Thanks for the heads up about the brake fluid - I've used that product before, quality stuff.

I've never flushed a power steering system - how is this done? If you could give me a heads up, it'd be greatly appreciated. And you mentioned using non-synthetic ATF fluid - I usually pick up some power steering fluid, is that what you mean?

Thanks!

Also, I'm very interested in how you have your nitrous setup on your Q45... Congrats on running th 12.6 as well - thats an awesome time!!!

I have a lot smaller motor, so I'd only like to do a 60HP shot - and keep it simple as possible.

If possible, I'd like to setup a window switch, so once activated the bottle will spray between a set RPM range (maybe 2500-6500) or so. Obviously I wouldn't hit it in first gear, but second gear on I'd like to spray between those RPMs.

I was wondering if you could help me figure out if I need some fuel upgardes to run a 60 shot, and any other help/guidance you can provide.

I'm going through the car (as you can see above) to make it run perfectly. In another 2-3 weeks it'll be time for the FUN PART - MODS.

Right away all I'm going to pickup is the ECU and the 60HP nitrous setup. I'd like to do cams, but I'm currently on the hunt for a set of 300ZX 5 speed stock cams - so JWT can regrind them. Thats a bit down the road however.

Do you have any guages, like a wideband O2 sensor or anything?

Any info/insight/links would be greatly appreciated I want to do this right.

I know you already specified OEM, but I know from experience .....now ..... that just any aftermarket part is risky. I've always done most of my own work, but two years ago my 94 J30 needed a timing belt(150,000 miles - I figured it was time).I just didn't feel like doing the work myself, so I asked around and contacted a reputable shop. I specified all Infiniti drive belts and Timing belts - the originals had all lasted 150K. The mechanic used a new aftermarket water pump ----arggggggggg. The pulley fell off the shaft and damaged misc parts. The shop repaired and replaced for free ------TWICE!!!Finally after the INFINITI water pump BROKE OFF at its base and went into radiator I had it towed to the dealer. Dealer repaired and $3,000 later I had My Baby back and running reliably ever since. Mechanic at dealer said that radiator fan drive(?) was probably damaged and out of balance after the first incident and contributed to the failure of the next two water pumps even though they were infiniti parts. Too little, too late.

OEM Pays for itself!!!!

Thanks for the heads up. Good info for anyone thinking about "cheaping out"!

Glad I ordered straight from the Infiniti dealership!

Glad your J30 is up and running!

NO when I said ATF I really wasnt kidding ... What I do to get the fluid out is just suck out the fluid from the resovior, and replace it. Do that a few times over the course of a couple weeks until you go through, say 3 quarts. Then just do this every so often (I do it like I said every 3 months) and that PS fluid will stay really nice....

Again, dont use PS fluid, use ATF....

I think your making this harder than it has to be. Just get a JWT ECU with the nitrous module.. From there its just wiring up a simple 100 shot nitrous... Easy squeasy.... The VG can handle a 100 shot easily with stock everything (other than ECU, duh).....

do it the easy way...!!!

Haha, I don't know!!!

Kind of scared my motor will blow if I feed her a 100 shot... I used an 80HP direct port system on my 2.0L 4 cylinder, but the motor was completely built! There was also 20lbs of boost on top of that, so that might've added a bit more stress!

She's also got 120k on her, she's not a brand new fresh engine.

How often do you spray your 100 shot? And do you know how long its been installed on that car? The motor is completely stock, right?

I'd love to just toass a 100 shot on, but don't want to blow the motor...

Reason I was asking about the fuel - was because your car has a fuel cell and the whole nine yards. Why do you need that if the OEM is sufficient?

Just covering all the questions, before I purchase the kit!
