Has anyoner been through j-spec auto sports or should i just stick with heavy throttle? I want the best customer service and engine, if it costs more ( heavy throttle ) then i'll pay it. I bought a engine form J-Spec auto sports my first time around. I ended up parting it out and buying another engine about 6 months later. I could never get the the engine from J-Spec to run right the oil feed line to the turbo ended up being stripped out ( on the block side of course)and I had to pull the motor and heli-coil it and the uncut harness had a few clips broke off just no fun at all. I would save yourself some time a hassle and go with Heavythrottle they have always been up for giving me some good pointers.

Don't take a chance on ur engine just to save a few bucks. Stick with heavy throttle.

heavy throttle "hand picks" their engines... they have a choice and only pick engines which are good and will run. spend a few extra bucks to begin with and you will have far less problems.

Has anyone here ordered from http://www.rimsandthings.com ? they seem to have a pretty good deal on an SR, but before I go with them I wanted to know if anyone else has gone with them. I think that theyre new, but their SR costs $1500. What do you guys think about them?

I think venus auto is a good compromise between perfect, expensive motors and cheap, grab-bag motors. But if all the stuff on that site is true, it sounds like a pretty good deal.

no, it seems to come with most everything, heres a list of the parts it says it comes with: engine, 5 spd transmission, eng. wiring harness, all required cables, ECU, Distributor, Complete Intake manifold, alternator, A/C power steering pump, all brackets and sensors, Shiftlinkage. Sounds like a good deal to me. Tell me what you guys think, its at rimsanthings.com

You ususally get what you pay for. The incredible hassle and heartbreak of gettign a ****ty motor will not be made up for by saving a tad ove a motor from a reputable company, go with heavythrottle, MVP motorsports, enjuku phase2 , xatracing 240sxmotorinmg.

They are all sponors here btw and if a company gets a bad rep with members we dont allow thme to stay on. The fact that they been here os long tell you they are good.

Most everyone who'se gone wioth the "Discount SR's" hads regretted it.

i got my motor from j-spec and there were a few little things missing, not that big of a deal. but the big thing is that i installed the engine and 2 months later (trying to get it to run right) i found that i have a bad piston/ring which is weird because they supposedly compression test the motors before sending them out. so their quality of engines doesn't look to be that great. the service seems to be pretty good. but yeah, i would suggest paying a little extra to go with a company that handpicks the engines so you know the quality will be good.

If you can afford it, HT is your best bet.

got mine from a private dealer and still running strong. do your research if you want to save on your swap. compression test isn't very accurate when your getting a motor that has been sitting for awhile. the seals aren't fully expand. make them take a leak down test and take pictures of it. make sure to tell them to mark the motors so you know which one is which. best thing to do is figure out all the common problems and all the accessible seals that you can reach before you drop the motor in. change your clutch and the rear main seal if you want to save the hassle of dropping the transmission when the motor is in. the rear transmission seal is also a common problem people forget to change. dropping those two drive shaft is a pain.

i wouldn't trust a dealer that thinks that the sr20DET has a distributor... 1500? yea that's pushing it. i crapped myself when i got my motor for 2100 shipped.
