I've been to the nissan site to look at bluetooth compatible cell phones. It seems very limited, and none of the phones listed are available for my cell phone plan-to-be.

Has anyone had success with their bluetooth in their versa using a non-compatible cell phone?

I know my iPhone won't work, it doesn't work with anything but a headset. It won't even connect to my Mac via bluetooth, go figure.

Wow...mega digression, I also heard it was very limited, which is a bummer.

My cell is compatible (samsung a950) but it still acts funny. For example I will say "dial 12345" and the car will say dialing 12345, but then will actually dial 42452 or some other random number. Also, sometimes after it says dialing i actually have to hit the hang up button for the call to be put through. Haven't had time to take it to the dealer yet but I think most of the dealers around here don't know what to do with the bluetooth anyway.

Wow, I feel lucky...I figured if it had Bluetooth my cell phone would be compatable, I woulda bee super ticked off had that not been the case.

In case you were wondering (I haven't looked at the list of compatable phones) I have a Motorola KRZR

I have the Samsung t519 Trace that lists Bluetooth handsfree/headset as features on the phone. Hopefully it works with my Versa when I get it! Does it take long to set up? Can I demo it when I'm at the lot?

nissans website is so outdated as far as compatible phones.

I have used the following phones successfully'

MOTO Q

MOTO RAZR 2 V9M

Blackberry 8703e

Treo 755p

As long as your phone has hands free capabilities you'll be good.

all my phones are for SPRINT

Hey there,

I just brought my Versa home today and set up my Samsung U740 phone and tried dialing my home number and it worked fine and I know my phone wasn't on the Nissan list.

I will let you know if I have any issues with it. BTW the setup was flawless on the first try, I didn't need to do anything weird.

Just because your phone isn't on the list doesn't mean it won't work. It probably just means it wasn't avaialble for testing when they did their last round.

Hmmm...that's strange. I'm 99% positive I've read posts from other people who use their iPhones with the Versa Bluetooth with no problems. My Sony Ericsson W300i and my wife's Samsung D807 both work great with it.

It does take a *small* bit of time to set up a phone book (but it's not necessary if you know the numbers you generally would like to dial ad don't want to set up the phonebook) But linking the phone is not a problem at all...the voice guide is very helpful...sometimes too helpful, especially if you've been using it for a long time and know all the options.

Though if you set up a phone book make sure the inside of the car is quiet when you do it. I set up my girlfriend's name in the phone book originally and I couldn't get it to dial it...when I listened to my recording of her voice I must have closed something like my glove box or center console and the click was recorded too...and the voice recognition was looking for that click sound to dial her name, lol, needless to say I deleted the entry and started over and that solved the problem

THanks to all for replying. Digging deeper into the problem, I discovered that Nissan Canada has a very brief list of phones that are compatible, and Nissan USA has a much more extensive list, including phones that are available in Canada. The USA site also has a link to phones that are being tested. I looked at the individual phones on the phone manufacturers' websites. Many of the phones are 2+ years old.

So I talked to the dealership, and they never thought there might be a problem with compatiblity. The cell phone companies claimed that there is 'cause Nissan is using old bluetooth technology. The salesman at nissan made some calls and found out this little gem: when it's time to upgrade your phone, make sure it is at least bluetooth 2.0 or the phone has a software upgrade from the provider.

So if you live in Edmonton AB, and you are having bluetooth issues, I found out that Jordie at Erickson is bluetooth knowledgeable. The sales guy told me when I get my new phone, if I have any problems with it, they will help me set up the phone and get everything operating properly. I've had the Versa for 6 months, and it's probably time to finally get the bluetooth up and operating. (Yeah, my old phone is really, really old-school.)

Good luck Sambot! I know many people view the Bluetooth option as a fun little "extra", but it was a MAJOR factor in our purchasing the Versa. My wife spends a good part of her day driving around (and using her cell phone). Her ability to do it safely and reliably with a hands-free option is a huge thing to us.
