I am impressed with the do overs and want to jump in as well. My 90 nissan std PU has 176,000 miles on it and I have debated unloading it because of the poor state of the interior. Would love to transform the interior over to a Pathfinder with bucket seats, need a replacement dash, headliner, and complete doors wouldn't hurt either. My question is which years would be compatible, 90-95? Pull yards seem hard to come by out here in Colorado, might have to travel a little and need to get my inventory right.

Doors are all the same for the pickups, years 86.5-97. IDK about the Pathy doors. My 97 has cable operated roll-down mechanisms, IDK about earlier years.

The dash was more rounded for the years 95-97. I have heard that some 94's and even 93's had rounded dashboards, but I haven't seen any pics to corroborate this.

Bucket seats from another truck or the Pathy should bolt in directly, but other kinds of bucket seats have certainly found thier way into HB's as well.

You might be able to find some pre-formed carpet somewhere, I just have rubber mats on the metal floor.

I might think of more later...

94 ws the year of the dasboard change, but if you took it all, it would bolt into the cab. Pathfinders started in '87 and were pretty much the same through '93. The 94-95s had the refreshed interior.

I know a guy here in AZ that has a white '93PF parts rig with a near complete maroon interior in reasonably good shape. Not sure if it's worth the drive down for you to come strip it.

Thanks for the feedback. My interior is grey. Guess I am partial to that. I did get to a local "Pull and Pay" and was told by their system that my 90 base hardbody is compatible, door wise with the Pathfinder 87-91 and the PU 86-91. Maybe I limited my selection by asking only for manual doors. The Cash for Clunkers program had a separate row that I didn't get to.

Just remember that the Pathfinder migrated to a new platform for the 1996 model year - so you'd want to stick with 1995 or earlier for the seats at least...

I got some great bucket manual seats from a 1995 PF and they bolted right in. What a difference. Found replacement cowling pieces, sun visors, seat belt, and floor mats too. I am looking for a dash now. There was an 86 D21 dash in better shape and the right color with all the venting in place. Any advice on pulling a dash. The Haynes doesn't cover it. I have replaced my dash in my 97 Volvo 850 and it included in-cab bolting and 4 firewall bolts removed from the engine compartment. Is the whole dash removal done from within the cab? Thanks for the feedback. Mike

Found a 91' dash in great condition and it went right in. Looks a ton better. Ordered a preformed carpet online and that went right in too. Carpet was the most expensive item so far at $200. but it covered the entire cab. Still on the look out for manual doors or maybe just the panels if need be. Blue would be the ideal color.

carpet can be had pretty cheap at jcwhitney.com, they carry a lot of off beat car stuff, some cheap crap. But the carpet should not be an issue. The cheapstuff is like radios and eltronic stuff and some cheezey after market stuff.

We can close this thread off. I appreciate the feedback. I was looking for reinforcement on doing my little project and I got it. Thanks. Anybody wanting to see photos of bucket seats or a disassembled dash in a 90 hardbody cab go to mrecoolgar's postings or bucket seats and a great idea for a center console go to those of reverend d.

I got pointed in good directions for pull yards and have found a great selection of parts to meld into my truck. Now I am hooked on checking out the auto yards. Fenders, doors, the bed, rear bumper, dash, tailgate, buckets seats, headliners, rear cab wall carpet and speakers, and the rear sliding window are from various Pick ups and Pathfinder models from '86 to '97. I found that bolt holes tend to line up just fine. It is important to grab companion pieces, ie: taking a headliner from a '97 requires you get the trim as well. Headliners are cut different from year to year. The Pathfinder fenders were a little troublesome. The placement of the antenna holes varies from one year to the next. I lost the original antenna trim piece and eventually had to drive to Denver to get the exact molding trim that goes with a '94 PF. I took the power antenna and removed the motor base to use the same antenna with that fender. Thanks for the great ideas. Would still like a center console/armrest from a '98 frontier. Todate with newly painted rims. [IMG]/IMG] '95 PF bucket seats, prior to door panels and rear sliding window.[IMG]/IMG]'91 dash and new carpet. [IMG]/IMG] [IMG]/IMG] Donor of bed/bumper/headliner to include rear wheel flares and flaps, '97 model [IMG]/IMG] donor of doors,'95 [IMG]/IMG] donor of fenders and wheel flares/flaps, '94 pathfinder [IMG]/IMG] original state of my interior, includes the bench seat [IMG]/IMG]

Yes, you are right about that. I need to pull the instrument cluster out again anyway. Maybe I have a wire ready to go back there. My speedometer pointer disintegrated (white plastic) and I found another to push on but I haven't been getting accurate speed reads anymore.

Why were those trucks in the junk yard? All of them look to be in great shape.

You are right about that. The Cash for Clunkers program gets the credit for it. Something is done to the engines to make them non usable otherwise everything else is ready to be pulled and reused. Just in the last few months I have seen the CFC section of the pull yards jump in size. I have been using the UPull and Pay Chain here in the springs and two in Denver.

More parts for us I guess. If you see any manual SE doors in gray let me know.

Sure. I'll keep an eye out but the doors won't matter if they come from a std or se versions right? I have been keeping a close eye on the three yards close to me and have been surprised by the lack of early 90's hardbodys. I have been pulling from a '97, '95, '91, and an '86, luckily, right here in town. Not much comes in. Its nice I can supplement with some PF parts. Now, Albuquerque,NM seems to be the place to make a visit. Check out the inventory on line at http://www.upullandpay.com

SE only and they have to have crank handles, no power. I know they exist just rather uncommon.

I learned to drive stick in a '92 Hardbody with that same setup. You learn to just know by feel and sound when to shift. The '01 Frontier I just bought has a tach, but I really have no use for it. It's more of a curiosity to look at every so often than a tool to let me know when I should shift.

I learned to drive a stick on my 89 Hardbody Almost a year ago in an abandon K-mart Parking lot. My dad would laugh at me till I got it right

Part of making my ride a nicer package was to replace the radio. The lights in the display quit working years ago. I never knew what station I was on so when I had the dash apart I tried taking the radio apart too, looking for where the illumination was failing. Never found a 'bulb' I could simply replace. I got the most basic cd receiver I could find to replace. I love it..... Part of the whole, lets make this ride enjoyable again, would be to add a tach too. I driven it since 1994 without one of course but its fun to have sight relation with the rev'ing of the engine. I have a CDL, class A so I know its certainly possible to do without the RPM gauge. I learned to stick shift on my aunts '68 Camaro way back in the mid 70's. Its a wonder they didn't have to replace the transmission after that....I don't have the money to repaint it but I thinking of what color I would go with. The interior has a little of the original gray but there is more light blue now. I would like to have the color of the front fender, a dark green. It would be an odd mix of colors of course. I'll start a new thread and ask what folks have paid getting their mini trucks painted, and where at.
