Howdy,Many thanks for the quick and pertinent responses. Maybe I didn't make myself very clear in my posts, but I already own ( 2 months) a '94 q45t which I purchased for $2500 pretty much in the blind as I fell in love with the handling, power, and overall feel of the vehicle. Interior was near perfect, exterior had a few minor dings and some small rust areas over a fender well, due to some neglected body damage. Two months later, I'm looking at a cel with knock sensor and injector codes. Rough idle and poor acceleration and fuel economy. After pricing some motor parts and taking a few deep breaths, I decided to look for a 'parts motor',as current one has 165k and don't really know how it has been treated. Air cleaner was clogged and one injector showed an open circuit with a couple of others being slightly out of spec when ohmed. Found a motor for $700 +$125 shipping but haven't committed to it yet. Supposedly less than 100k on it, with 30 day guarantee. Not really into doing an engine swap at this point, but at that price, I could invest more than that in parts to right my current motor and still run into other issues down the road. Cost/benefit analysis concluded that a spare motor might be a good thing. How about those 'Japanese imports' with less than 40k for $1300. Are they for real or is it a crap shoot. Anyone have any experience? Anyhow, I am very appreciative of the input I have received from all you guys(feel like I joined an AA support group!) and look forward to many years of happy ownership with my current Q. Don't know whether this will go on as a general posting, or just to you, but hope others have access to it. Can Hicas be disabled if it becomes problematic, or are you stuck with it for better or worse. Seems pretty complex and benefit is minimal at best, in my uninformed opinion. Take care and I'll kick around some ideas in my head to see whether a spare engine purchase at this point is premature. Should have had the foresight to pay a competent mech. to check it over, but it was pretty much an impulse buy. Dennis Ray
