For the first time since I've been looking at reviews of the Nissan Versa this paper ranks the Versa #1!

It's the sedan, of course it ranks the highest.

edit: on an unrelated note, how do you convert a PNG image to a GIF image?

If you use XP or Vista, try to open that file from Paint, and Save As (Pick .jpg)

The Focus shouldn't be anywhere but 7th place. It's NINE YEARS OLD, ultra-cheap, ugly, and not particularly great at ANYTHING.

REFINED? What?! Maybe if the last car you drove was a Model T.

Let's cross our fingers, and see how well will this one do.... Since this is almost like a cheap out Mazda 3 + Focus interior. Most of my friends who own a older Focus is like falling apart...

At first, I was planning to get one (When they said they will bring the Euro Ford with Turbo to North America) then it end up a 2L engine which mazda don't even want....

After that, Ford dealership's sales are like... I don't even understand why Ford came out like 10 different model for the new focus.

Until now, nothing changed, and no one really want to buy it too.....

So..... Ford is really not thinkin

^^ Don't get me started on the Ford Focus. As a Mazda3 owner, I'm even more critical of Ford's decision making. How can they justify selling a Mazda3/Volvo S40 -based Focus in Europe (a car that garners rave reviews overseas) and then hock this steaming pile on us stateside? The appearance of the 'new' Focus, let alone the inferior mechanicals, make it inconceivable that anyone would choose it over any other compact. The new Ford Fiesta (a Mazda2 clone), however, should give Ford a competitive subcompact again.

After reading the review of the Versa you linked, I'm a little surprised that it made the top spot. It would seem that their primary concern was cost, which is fine, but they didn't exactly praise the car itself, beyond the interior. It would also seem that the Fit and Yaris would have been more suitable for the comparison, but they were choosing only sedans. Funny thing is, for this round-up, the Sentra would have been more in line with MSRP, size, and MPG.

I tend to think that the Versa has more to offer than they let on, but it's still nice to see a comparison where the Versa wins. Most auto critics get too stuck on the driving dynamics of the Fit to consider any other subcompact. And even though the Fit is a nice car, they forget that rear-seat legroom or techno-options might also be on a buyer's mind.

Even though I liked the handling of the Fit better than the Versa, price point and legroom won out for us on the Versa (everyone is tall including my daughter at 5'10") . I looked at the Sentra but did not feel we would be getting that much more car for the extra cost. I will not ever consider a Toyota as I do not like the approach their sales staff take (high pressure). The Focus was a piece of *$&$. I also agree that I do not understand why the Euro Focus model is not offered in the USA. I have rented one in Europe and liked it.
