I rode in a friend's G35 the other day and I was shocked with the difference in fit, finish, and ride. I am sure that the G35 is a nice car but it does not compare to the Q45. The G35 felt like an economy car compared to the Q. I had assumed that someday I would want to trade up to a newer Infiniti and would look into a G35 but I am not feeling that anymore. I guess I will do a better job of maitaining my Q45 so I can drive it a long time. This was an older G35. I think it is a 2005 and the comercials I see for the new G35 make them look nice, but I think I would have a real problem going from a Q to a G35.

What you get in a cheap entry level bottom of the barrel model in any brand. Full of compromises and more to hit a price point.

Try the Sentra and see how nice the G is by comparison.

To match the fit and finish of an early Q today would require a $75,000 MSRP.

My 1999 C43 AMG is bare bones compared to my Q and cost as much and more to keep on road.

I can't wait until the early G35 get 10 years on them 2012-2013

G? hell no....

No way I am going from Q to a G. Everyone in here have one it's like seeing a camry or accord...

plus my Q is wayy more luxurious and spacey I hate "small" cars if you will.

G35 is a good car by it's own standard. When I returned loaner G35 back to dealership, I just can't wait to step in, sit and drive my Q. No comparison. Power delivery and smoothnesssss

So true. Nice car, but the G50 is an extraordinary car, unless it is maintained as a beater.

You need to at least look at the M45 as a valid compairson. It is a great car but Infiniti needs to update it quickly to compare Tanny and engine power to similar Lexus products.

But I drove a 06' M45 and it is very nice...and has lots of nice features and plenty of power.

I thought pretty much the same about the first G35. To be honest, I wondered why on earth it had a Mt. Fuji on it instead of a chrome hamburger. Even compared to the contemporary Maxima it's luxury doesn't keep up, and the Maxima's a "mere Nissan."

The G is also inexcusably short on headroom. I had the opportunity to drive Greg' (AZhitman) G35 on a track a few years ago. Thanks to the combination of no headroom, sunroof, and necessity for a helmet, my 6'4'' tall head didn't come close to fitting. I had to recline so far back I could barely drive. I know I'm tall, but guys my height aren't exactly uncommon. The G's not an option for us on the headroom issue alone. And the non-height-adjustable passenger seat is even worse...my head brushed the ceiling even without a helmet on that side.

The newer G is MUCH classier inside than the original G35, though.

I absolutely agree. Not just for interior space, but for the feel larger cars have overall. The G and other cars in it's segment are WAY too small. They're TINY cars in my book. Granted, the newer G is more roomy and comes nowhere near being as uselessly small as the idiotic Lexus IS (in which the back seat bottom very nearly touches the front seatback if I have the driver seat comfortably adjusted!) but it is still far too small to be even a consideration for me.

The new G is gigantic compared to old G20.

Anyway the YEN progession in early 90s forced higher and higher US prices when the $50k window was exceeded the decontenting occured in 1995 and 1996 finally progressing to Q41.

The G is going thru the same situation, now:http://www.x-rates.com/d/JPY/USD/graph120.html
