so, i went out today and checked my compression, they were all 180-190 across the board..but it still smokes and has a hard time during cold start up?

what could be the problem here?..it smells like im burning coolant.. sweet smell with white smoking coming out of the tail pipe..

anyone care to chime in?

Get the cooling system pressure tested, and also look for oil in your coolant(take off radiator cap and look for oil floating on the surface of the coolant) and coolant in your oil(drain your oil if any white milky liquid comes out there is coolant in the oil)

I hate to say it but it might still be a head gasket eventhough the compression checks good. (changing a head gasket on an ohc motor is a b***h)

It might over heating or just run hotter than usual, a random to constant miss fire, and hard start are the only ones i can think of off the top of my head right now.

If you have a rad cap with the lever to relive pressure take off the cap while it is running and look for bubbles.(they will be really tiny like champan bubbles)

Does it smoke constantly or just at start up?

The leak might seal its self up after the car warms up.
