i was wondering, what are some common problems for sr swaps. im in the middle of my swap right now and my car wont fire up. i believe its a bum ecu, but im not sure. symptoms are weak power to the fuel pump and no switched pulse to the injectors, that result in not firing over. it cranks, just doesnt run on its own. does this sound familiar to anyone? what were your problems and how did you trace them?

99% of SR no-start issues is the wiring. Make sure your wiring is correct.

Please disregard that information because it is totally false. Hopefully he means 99% of no start issues at the first turn of the key after the swap is done is wiring then i'll give him that. the best way to troubleshoot your wiring is to look at the frsport website read over it and see if you missed anything. If you have a weak priming fuel pump then check your wiring and to that and check your wiring to your fuel injectors if they arent reacting at all..if everything with your wiring checks out if you think you are 100% sure you got that correct then purchase another ecu because that definately sounds like the problem if its not the wiring. The ecu sends a signal to the injectors so if the wiring to the injectors is correct then they must not be getting a signal from the ecu because its shot

the CAS sends signal to ecu to fire injectors, could also be that or the wiring to it, jut a thought.

No man that is not right. Fuel injectors put in your fuel part of the A/F ratio and the air part is read by the maf. The maf sends a signal back to the ecu letting it know much air is being brought into the engine and then the ecu tells the injectors how much fuel to put in for the perfect a/f ratio. The cas has nothing to do with air or fuel it is spark.

i thought that if you pull out the cas from the engine, with the key turned and turn it by hand the injectors would pulse? or is this only on the ka?

Okay......Timing, Timing Timing......Make sure you take your valve cover off to check timing by the marks on the cams. I followed every step but this one when I was doing my swap. I ended up being 180 out. Also I can't recall ever hearing of someone getting a bum ECU, not that it doesn't happen, but it seems to be a rare thing. 9 times out of 10 we overcomplicate the problem and it ends up being something rediculous we overlooked in our excitement to have a new motor....

thing is, i did the timing, and im almost positive i set it to the correct marks. the most left hand mark on the CAS and the 2nd mark from the left on the crank pulley.

thanks rosco for the help though, i appreciate it greatly.

how can i check the connection between my ecu and injectors, because its probably more likely that my wiring is wrong than me having a bum ecu? also, would bad wiring to the maf be an issue for no injector pulse? i was told to check my maf before anything else.

thanks again guys.
