There seems to be some confusion on this topic. In actuallity, the ceramic wheel is the exhaust turbine. The compressor is metal, which can still break and get sucked into the engine, even though it's got a long way to go through the piping, then the intercooler, then back up the IC outlet to the throttle body.
One other thing.14psi for short bursts isn't going to do much damage. It's those long, extended high speed runs that will kill your turbo.
Ran my Laurel RB20 at 14psi for a year, never had any problem. No shaft play, no cracked turbines...zippo, zilch, nadda.
Think of 14psi as your "scramble" setting. Use it only when you need it and not for more than, say, 10-15 seconds, and you'll be golden.
