I just recived my 95 skyline gtst 2 weeks ago and im having an issue with it dying while driving when you let the RPMs drop after acceleration the car bogs then dies i was just wondering before i go into some unfimilar territory is this a common problem that someone might know to look at first with the r33s? kinda wondering if the idle air control vavle give these cars problems often?

well as far as i know this car is realitivly stock it hase a welded on exhuast after the cat and a cone filter and HKS hypermax RS coilovers and everything else stock stock BOV as far as i know stock flywheel stock turbo now there MIGHT be a small leak in the exhuast manifold but i could be hearing the down pipe cuz it is split but i wouldnt figure that would cuase the stall cuz its past the turbo and all im going to check out the IAC since its the first thing i can think of that would cause this and i guess go from there

You could also check your recirc tubing back to the intake tube on the suction side of the turbo. If it's cracked, or the rubber hoses aren't connected, you could be letting your recirc air out into the atmoshphere, causing the stalling.

Always check the simple stuff first, cause 9 times outta 10, it's those that will cause problems.

Also, could you please use some punctuation and proper spacing? Your posts look like run-on sentences and are confusing to read sometimes. Thanks, mate.

Ey bro, I got a '93 r33 gts-t and i had the exact same problem when I bought it. Well I fixed it and thought you'd have the same thing. If your car drives ok but as soon as u let the acceleration go it jus dies or it goes down to 1 grand and starts hunting then its probably blow-by. Does your car have an oil catch tank? coz oil gets into the intercooler pipes and restricts air-flow to the throttle body, which confuses the ecu and makes the car die. Well if u can, take ur cooler pipes off and flush and clean them out and replace, will make a world of difference,,then get urself an oil catch tank,,will save u havin to worry about it again. Hope it helps. take it easy

if you find oil in the fmic pipes that means you have blown the turbo seals lol change that stock turbo asap.

R33 problems

1. aftermarket BOVs or cracked stock recirc tubing2. incorrectly gapped spark plugs3. ****ty coil packs4. hicas ****ting the bed5. if you run more than about 10-12 psi, the ecu cant retard the timing enough, you need a power FC.6. pcv system blowing oil all over your maf and intercooler pipes7. the exhaust manifold studs fall off and your car will make a strange ticking and popping sound while its cold, until the manifold heats up and expands8. the injectors tick, making you think your exhaust manifold studs fell off9. if you run 14psi or more for awhile, your ceramic turbo internals will get sucked into the intake manifold and ruin your motor. if youre real lucky, the exhaust side will fall off first and lodge itself in your cat.

There seems to be some confusion on this topic. In actuallity, the ceramic wheel is the exhaust turbine. The compressor is metal, which can still break and get sucked into the engine, even though it's got a long way to go through the piping, then the intercooler, then back up the IC outlet to the throttle body.

One other thing.14psi for short bursts isn't going to do much damage. It's those long, extended high speed runs that will kill your turbo.

Ran my Laurel RB20 at 14psi for a year, never had any problem. No shaft play, no cracked turbines...zippo, zilch, nadda.

Think of 14psi as your "scramble" setting. Use it only when you need it and not for more than, say, 10-15 seconds, and you'll be golden.

Yes. I can't remember if it was the first or second gen RB25DET turbo but there is a plastic one and a metal one.
