I have an 08 CTS coming off lease and I am giving a G37 a serious look. Just looking for likes/dislikes that pop out. I read some of the posts and it seems to be a generally well liked car. I love the look of my CTS but the build quality just isn't there. I'm look at a Journey with the premium package. No NAV as I have it now in my CTS and really never ever use it. Dealer told me the radio with the premium package can control my iPod. Is he correct?

Anyways, thanks in advance for the insight. I really went to the dealer looking at the M but like the look of the G better! Last question: How does the G25 compare to the 37? Obviously it's a drop in HP but is everything else identical?
TIA
M

The premium package and the iPod interface is great. Charges the iPod and you can use the steering wheel controls. Much better sound quality then I'm getting with my Z and the iPod plugging in through the headphone jack.

You will love the G.

I looked at the CTS, actually the "V" version...but my wife hated the caddy's styling. Anyway, the G37 is a great vehicle and for me won against a few other considerations. (335i, G8 GXP, A4 and CTS-V)

Search the forum for the posts...I went into detail on each vehicle's positive and negative traits.

The Infiniti is just a better value for the money with everything considered.

Here's a quick list off the top of my head:

- I have the Bose...sucks without added bass. Aftermarket sub is a must! Sounds 100X better now.
- Handling is terrific! Better than my 05 G35 6MT coupe!
- HP is better than expected, but could use about 70 more imo. I wish they offered a V8 or FI option
- Sport seats will take getting used to. The thigh bolsters are pretty hard and if you wear a wallet, your cheek will feel it...
- Wish I had the 2010+...fog lights suck on 2007-2009 body styles.
- NAV is great after the bypass mod. The OEM settup will not allow you to change settings, search the HD, or add/modify destinations...the bypass will trick the car into thinking you're standing still.

I've had a G25 loaner for the past two weeks while my G35 is getting a new wiring harness due to a flashing air bag warning light. I like the G25 but I prefer a 6 speed manual. The car is pretty quick considering the engine has so much less HP
I get 25MPG on regular of course. It is a good choice for someone that does not need navigation. I have a Garmin nuvi 265 that is fine when I need to use it.
Welcome to NICO
BTW my last American car was a Cadillac.
It was a 1953 and had a huge back seat.
Ahhh the memories :chuckle:

Thanks for the input! Pulled the trigger on a Blue Slate (which doesnt look blue at all) G37. So far after 24 hours I love it! One last question...Regular Gas Ok?

No regular gas. Per the Owners Manual:

Use unleaded premium gasoline with an octane rating of at least 91 AKI (Anti-Knock Index) number (Research octane number 96). If premium gasoline is not available, unleaded regular gasoline with an octane rating of 87 AKI number (Research octane number 91) may be temporarily used, but only under the following precautions:

● Have the fuel tank filled only partially with unleaded regular gasoline, and fill up with unleaded premium gasoline as soon as possible.
● Avoid full throttle driving and abrupt acceleration. However, for maximum vehicle performance, the use of unleaded premium gasoline is recommended.

Now, the car does have two knock sensors and should properly adjust for regular fuel. Some do used regular in their G's, like Telcoman.

Early Impressions:
WAY better ride than the CTS. More 'centered' feeling on the road. No vibrations. No squeaks. Less noise @ speed.
I will update...
