I am currently re-assemblying my ka-t, and many people are telling me that I can re-use my cometic headgasket. Is this true? I mean it was only run for about 300miles. nothing was damaged or anything, it just got some different pistions.

I have heard the same thing, but cannot personally verify. However, I know after taking the head off for the third time, had I not bend and scratched my Felpro (damn fine gasket for a stock replacement (stock is just sintered metal)), I would be reusing it. So if something as cheap and ill-designed (when compared to cometic) can be re-used, then surely your gasket can be. Look, if it is not scratched, bent, or otherwise deformed, it will be okay. It is designed to be very white and very non-crushable. Check the white for tracks or lines that would indicate an immediate failure. If you don't see that or any gouges, I would think you are okay.
