Bob over at http://www.versaspeed.com has made a new grille us Versa owners!

Here are some pictures.

Here is what Bob has to say."Versaspeed in cooperation with Grillcraft have come out with a front grill that is easy to install looks great AND is made here in Southern California. The grill is powder coated made of heave gauge steel and is paintable if you want to match your Versa. High quality and long lasting. Check out the Photos page for more views."

Enjoy!

It must be up to the buyer to finish making it look good? Center looks like crap w/o some sort of trim. IMO the product looks rushed, as if not enough time in R&D to make a more aesthetically pleaseing product...

Unfinished look....

Finished look...

jspec thanks for the input........the center is the factory bumper and I am going for a different "look" then the one you showed which also looks great for those that want that "finished" look. Since I race and around race cars all the time it's more function over form look here.....I guess a little "raw and aggressive" and I know it won't appeal to everybody because of that "unfinished" look and I wasn't trying to but just trying to give a different slant to an idea.....as they say "beauty is in the eye of the beholder" It took Grillcraft and I over three months to get the jigs set up right and aligned properly to follow the line of the hood which was a b@#ch to do, I had hoped to get it done toward the end of summer!

I like it and the price looks right.

What I need to know is what does "easy to install" mean?

My V is black - is the center piece black by default?

Would it be possible to post a link to the Instructions?

Thanks!

Is it possible for someone to cut the factory grill and only utilize the center section if one wanted? I've never personally taken the grill off of my GF's car, so I don't know where the attachment points are. Because, if one wanted the 'finished look', they could color match the center section to the car and still have the Nissan symbol there as well. Just a thought...

The grill looks great other wise. Any plans for the bumper section?

Bob, do you happen to have a pic of the grille installed with your hood open, or possibly a pic of an uninstalled grille? I think the grille looks awesome, but I agree about the center not being finished. I think cutting the center piece out of the factory grille and installing it as a center trim would be ideal, and I'm sure other's would want to do this as well as long as it could still attach - I'd love to see how your new grille attaches under the hood.

I didn't know the front lisence plates took 3 screws?

I like the jspec603 version. It has more of a finished look. The versaspeed ones look like someone put some sheet metal in the middle, taking out the medal grills and replacing them with some black spray painted mess from home depot with staples holding them on the back. The pictures alot make it look like someone just used the Windows program Paint and cut out the grill.

Its different but not my taste. Like the one jspec603 has with the trim on the outside...i feel that is very important too the look.

Hey! I will get more pictures with the hood open and some different angles and distance. Just got it on when I did the pictures so will do more. The center piece is what holds the bumper up in the center and is the same color as the rest of the bumper. To install, all you do is remove the stock grill..........drill three holes and your done should take no longer then an hour and I will have instructions for them and get them posted.......give me a few days.If you look at my car on the "Photo's" page on my website you will see my Versa without the grill because I've been working on this project for about six months plus and went through two yes two front bumper assy. (and they were cut up so I don't have them anymore) to try different things and it all came down to the way you see it now.My goals were to have something that was well made, easy to install, and the customer didn't have to worry about painting anything but could if they wanted to and of course the "raw and aggressive" look (and since we only have around 125 hp we need all the help we can get!). We also liked the way the hood overlapped the the center of the bumper......that is not a gap you see between hood and bumper. I had the Nissan emblem there but liked it better "clean" so you can even install the emblem if you like.If this goes well, we will do the bottom section also which is the easier to do.

I think the grille looks nice and the only reason everyone thinks it looks bad is because it isn't finished in the middle. I don't like the one that jspec posted because it doesn't sit flush with the body lines of the car. It looks like someone punched in the nose of the car (I believe that is actually a pic of idunno22221's car). Hey Bulld0g, if you're around, we could really use your photo chopping skills here. Do you think you could cut out the center of a stock blacked out grille and chop it into the center piece of one of bob's grille pics above? Here's a good one from CodeRed's grille tutorial:

Thus far, the color matched factory grill is looking best IMO. As I said in the FS post, don't understand why Nissan added the chrome... Anyone thought of using the factory grill, cutting out the center sections so that it would look similar to the one on Idunno's silver car. Then adding the Grillcraft mesh behind it? Guess it would depend on how far out the mesh grill actually sat..

This looks pretty good! If the center section were to be painted to match the specific color per vehicle, it would really set it off. After the cutting, sanding and any other modifications, this would be the perfect time to have this done.

That really does look nice. After looking at the pics under the hood, it would be very easy to cut the factory grille and install the center piece with two clips on the top. It might be kind of flimsy on the bottom if it's not attached to the rest of the grille, but I guess you could squirt some silicone or something under there to hold it in place. On a black car you wouldn't even need to paint the grille or center piece. And if any of the moderators are reading this, I still think bulld0g deserves a custom title for the way his chops contribute to this forum!

So if I did buy this grille now, how easy would it be to go into a body shop and say I want the emblem from this grille put on my new one? Or would they just look at me with a "your a dumbass" look on their faces lol.

Oh, I'm sure the body shop would probably take the job. They tend to like money.

Painting it would be a very wise idea after all is said in done. By the time you get done cutting the old grill up and sanding down the edges where the parts were molded together, you'll be left with a very rough edge. Even once you've done a finish sanding it will still leave the plastic 'white' and appear scuffed. My opinion would be to take it to your body guy and have him primer fill (k20 primer?) the part, then wet sand it down to a nice smooth finish. Then paint to match so it nice and shiny and factory looking! If one has the ability to do this at home, this would save you a ton of money!

I second Bulldog's custom title...He does very nice chops and he always seems willing to help everyone out!

It should be fairly easy to cut off the center piece of the stock grill and mount it. Two attachment points for the grill are at the top of the center piece. Some 3M vehicle double-sided tape or silicon could be used to attach (for various levels of permanency). Then the center piece would literally just be part of the bumper...

That's exactly what I was thinking too Kimber. You could still unbolt the grille and remove it if you need to access that area, but the finished portion would remain attached to the bumper and wouldn't ever need to come off because the bumper occupies that space anyway.

Hey gang, if you go to the versaspeed website I put some of the photo's I took before I took the front plate and Nissan emblem off and it will show you that you don't have to cut anything...it's all there so IF you want to paint the center another color it would be easy or keep it the same color as the bumper..IF you want to keep the Nissan emblem it's easy to put it back on. Again all can be done in about an hour a real DIY!

PLUS....I do have the window vents in stock again.

Bulldog...nice job on the photoshop and I don't mind at all.

To put the Nissan emblem is easy and all I did was use double sided tape and you can do it yourself.

I think I've answered everything.....

I really like the mesh style picked out. I would like the center to be smooth, with out that thing sticking out and flush with the bumper. A lower grill screen would be sweet too!
