Sorry if I seem like a novice at detailing, but I am... I really loathe detailing, I dont understand why cars cant keep themselves clean.... I do the hard part by keeping them mechanically sound, why cant they stay looking nice?

Anyway, I did my bi-annual complete detail job on the Q this weekend... maybe I'll take some pics to prove that I actually did it...

I have tried a bunch of products, but I have had the best results with "turtle wax color cure", which I stocked up on before they discontinued it. They have various colors, and obviously I use the green colored one. On my hood I have a bunch of rock chips and stuff from the car being primarily highway driven, and whenever I use regular wax it gets into the tiny rock chips and makes them stand out a lot more. The green colored wax sorta gets into the holes and makes it look a lot better...

Short of getting a paint job, this seems like the best thing for me to do... Does anyone know of any other products out there that do the same thing or are the same idea?

That's the wife's job! It's in the contract!

Turtle Wax has a habit of discontinuing entirely adequate products (Clear-Guard is another example)...

I wonder if you could "roll your own", by adding pigment to some other wax?

I've seen kits that included some form of "wax" or "grease" pencil to fill in those areas. Might give that a try?

thats what the turtlewax stuff is, and is the only one that included a wax pencil that worked grea,t but I lost or broke all of mine (drop em once and the wax shattered into 5000 little pieces). It worked magic on my hood.. Youd color it in (use on really really hot paint) and then put wax over it and it all came off, it was amazing.. Didnt last real long, but it sure beat a few grand for a new paint job.

Dear Wes,

There are several Ebay auctions with the colored Turtle Wax available. See item: 170098775010 for a mix and match with green.

I just searched 'Turtle Wax'

JD

PS: Several of the auctions are from Lowell, IN

Well, the chip stick that comes with the turtle wax colour polish is basically a hard crayon....

Looks like it's time to buy shares in Crayola!
