So I've been considering for awhile now to paint my calipers. I see a lot of people with gold, red, or yellow calipers and they do look nice on black or white cars. I have a dark slate/grey car and I was thinking I should go with a more "cool" color (ie blue, green, turquoise, purple). I feel like the mild grey and the cool colors will go well together. Last year, my first thought was purple because it's my favorite color, but I the more I thought about it the less I liked the idea. So I sat on it for awhile, and I'm starting to think that I want to get it painted again. This time I'm thinking I should go with a light blue/turquoise color.

Now that I've gone through that, here's something else that I've been thinking. My rotors are all rusted and pretty repulsive and my calipers are like an ugly iron/metal looking thing and I was considering in investing in some Rotora's and luckily they're base color is a light blue!! I read through the threads and saw that I could by them individually or go with the big brake kits. I always noticed that they could put a hole in my wallet.

But what do you guys think? Should I save up for a BBK or should i just get the rotors and the caliper? Will the BBK make that big of a difference in my breaking if I do get it? I don't drive hard, or need to make intense stops or anything. So what do you guys think? Let me know ^^

Not sure a BBK would be worth it for you if you're not planning on tracking the car. The stock brakes in the AC are pretty stout, IMHO. More than sufficient for 175-ish horsepower and daily driving. Rotora is an awesome brand though. Top shelf stuff.

I say paint your calipers and get the rotors. I like the idea of the blue-ish theme over the dark slate. Good stuff man.

i would paint. dont use spray paint. there is a kit out there that really does a great job, i forget the brand but any automotive parts place should have it. i did a vw a fews year ago and it lasted a long time without getting stained. you paint it on with a brush.

Let me know if you find out that brand :) Last year my cousin told me about a brand, but I forgot what it was also because I decided against painting them. But now I changed my mind again and I want to paint them, just because I want to add some color to my dark and gloomy car lol

Okay so in the process of searching for some caliper paint, I came across caliper COVERS. I'm thinking those will be less mess, and easy to install...what do you guys think? Opinions?

Hi Lilly,

Another female here! Im planning on doing my calipers as well....here are a few thoughts for you.....DON'T USE DULICOLOR! That stuff is TERRIBLE! I used it on my last car and had flaking all the time. The best kit for painting, if you can't get them powder-coated, is G2 Caliper Paint. You can order it from eBaymotors or directly from G2...its a two-part epoxy system that is supposed to be the best way to go..... I ordered last week and it should arrive tomorrow or Saturday. Plan on painting first part of next week....I have an a Azure Blue coupe & painting the calipers red.....

Oh cool! Lemme know how the painting goes with the G2. I was looking around at G2 paint and I couldn't fine the color that I wanted. How much is it to powder-coat the calibers? Would I be able to get a more specific color with power-coast? And around how much is it to get it powder-coated? Lemme know please! Thanks!! :)

Powder- coating is a great way to go but I'm guessing you'll run into a color issue there too. The place that powder coats here where I live, had limited colors to choose from, so I would have had to choose something common, like red. They required me to remove the calipers and bring them in. They keep them for 2-4 days & then I get them back. Charge is $50/ per caliper. I'm not in a position to remove them myself, let alone be without my wheels for up to 4 days, & I found a guy who can do the G2 paint job for me.
I have a blue theme going with my whip & would have gone with blue calipers but the blue needs to match & G2 blue is slightly off the mark, so red is the second choice.
Good luck!
Y

did you use the duplicolor caliper spray paint, or the duplicolor epoxy that comes in a kit? i didnt have any issues with the kit, but i also made sure that i thoroughly cleaned the caliber and surrounding brake parts.

Yes, it was the spray caliper paint....at the time, that was all that was available....how is the color holding up? How long have you had them painted? A pic perhaps :yesnod
Getting my car back today with the newly painted calipers....I'll post up.....
