They probably just used iodine and a cotton swab back then though.....

Wow, those pictures are absolutely beautiful!

It's neat to be able to see the rainbow effect in some of the pictures where an object was moving during the picture.

I honestly wouldn't have pegged most of these for more than 30 years old, except for, well, the obvious lack of giant red stars and or a hammer and sickle on everything. Impressive.

Back in the days, the exposure time is a lot longer than what we have time. It is hard for a person to hold a smile for a long time. Also, I believe that back in the day, it wasn't fashionable to smile in pictures unlike now. It has nothing to do with them being unhappy.

Edit: And yes, my avatar is a sad face lol...

Cool post! I like the picture of the guy who was in his 80's. I mean that dude was born in 1825 and it looked like the picture was taken in the 1970's.
