Today I tried to get some bcpr8es spark plugs and they have been discontinued. What are my options here? I tried getting a pfr8a-11 and no numbers where being shown either. SXOC is showing some varying opinions on bcp8es for our application. Anybody running a colder plug than bcpr7es, and if so what sparkplug?

Dunno if you are willing to go with Iridiums, but according to sparkplugs.com site, IQ20 are the same application as BCPR6EIX-11.

IQ24 should be the same as BCPR8EIX-11. At $11.99 seems like a lot tho.

Have a look at the silver type.. I researched the hell out of different spark plug types before settling on these..

But may not be everyone's cup of tea, but motorbike enthusiasts rave about them, especially in europe.. (where they are developed) that was good enough for me to give them a go..

I actually contacted the head office in australia and asked for a recommendation based on the build...

I can post the part number if you like.. but they are a pretty cold plug..

yea a part # would be great. Roughly what heat range does your plug translate to, a 7, 8 or 9?

through your reasearch what made the "extra turbo" racing plug less desirable?

I run 6s all everyday and have 7s in my drag car, but it is not ready for running as of yet. Don't run 7s or you'll be fouling on a regular. I know this because I've been down this lonely road, even with a seriously hot ignition system. The BCPR6ES-11 are more than enough for your needs and Iridiums are a waste of money IMHO as they did nothing different than the 6s for my applications.

I have been running 7's for two years now and never have fouled a plug, even daily driving the car. Could be due to the fact that my AFR's are right where they need to be in light load/no load vacuum portions of the map. For the 25psi Im squeezing into the motor right now on pulp, I think its time to give a colder plug a try.

The part number I have is DR12YS

The main driving factor for not using the extra turbo plug was the ignition system i use, i use capacitive discharge not inductive so the system benefits from a larger gap rather than a traditional smaller gap and dwell time relationship..

The turbo plug design i believe is aimed at reducing the rate of misfire on an inductive system through the tiered prong setup (3 small gaps, rather than one smallish gap), its similar in design to the bosch super4 spark plug, which I have used previously on a different engine setup...

According to the brisk data, the heat range "12" is two before the coldest, i don't know how this compares to ngk, bosch or other manufacturers, but as an educated assessment I would say it would be an ngk 9 by comparison looking at the data...

But I also have nitrous which does require a colder plug inherently..

hope this helps you
