For the last 3 days my car has been creeping up to 12lbs of boost and cutting out. I thought it was my boost controller but I removed it and ran the hose straight from the hot pipe to the wastegate. Took the car for a spin and it spiked again. I mean its been around 15-40 degrees here in Raleigh,NC but I didnt think that would cause an extra 5 psi. Is my wastegate defective?? I havnt meesed with it so it should not be bent or anything.

has anyone had this problem before??

on average is 85degrees F here on my island and at night ...mid to high 70s. running off the waste gate i get 8psi during the day and creeps to 11 at night might be more dramatic here since i'm at sea level..

im running a factory wastegate with the factory turbo. When I had my turbo da9 b16 I would see maybe 2psi increase over the cooler weather but nothing this drastic. Could it be b/c of the smaller turbo or do I need to clean/lubricate something on the gate?? Its prett agravating

its 100% normal, on colder days your going to have more psi because the air is denser. like right now im running 11 psi, and when its warm i run, well i really dont know because i havent had the car running during the warmer months. but i have friends that have boosted cars and they are running more boost when its cold.

Yeah I know that but an extra 5 psi??? That pretty much means the car is pointless to drive during the winter.

so should it boost past 12psi without it cutting out?? If so I need to look for boost leaks I guess. The temp over here in nc went up a lil and everything is back to normal. I was just stumped on the whole spiking issue. I guees the smaller turbo and toques causes it to spike more than my integra. But then again it had a external gate.
