I havent been able to see if it does it in the day time or not yet, but the last two nights when I got off from work (about 45 +/- degrees) at start up, after I stop and start accelerating, and when I turn theres this loud squeal like its a belt. I was thinking it was just cause its been colder than usual, but Im not too sure.

Its similar to Nismo31's problem, just a little different.

its the brakes, not the pad. but probably a caliper issue or rotor. loits of 240 brakes have that over time.

I switched my brakes to JDM 180sx brakes from a front clip this shop had. I got new pads (carbon + something else = no brake dust). I hope its not something BAD.

Damn...no wonder it disappears when I speed up. Thanks, I'll have them checked out.

EDIT: But it happens at start up...? No moving at all...

Anyone else wanna take a shot?

I get this too, if you check that one of the belts you'll see that they might be pretty well damaged. I was recommended to just replace the 3 belts and then the squealing would go away.

It's not the brakes since it happens when you come to a full stop/at start up... then simply goes away once you get moving.

I get a squeal almost everytime I start my car up and it's under 70degrees. Lasts about 3 seconds. All my belts are fine. Been a year and they squealed last fall/winter also. think it's my AC

How would it be the AC? And why does it only happen below certain temps?

It's your power steering belt. Tighten it; replace it if necessary.

Might want to check your power steering fluid too. If it's low, then it'll make a loud, high-pitched noise too.

Yep, it was just the belt(s). Changed, and no more squeal.

My car used to squeal relly bad last winter, it ended up being the alternator belt. It was so loose I could see it vibrating around... I can't believe it didnt fall off.
