Current temp. 12

I moved up to buffalo a few months back and I had to park my 240sx in a friends back yard. I didn't have any problems starting the car until recent. The battery seems good the starter may be a bit questionable. It's pretty weird I get in the car and turn it on it turns on at the first try but then turns off. After it turns off it no longer wants to start again. I checked the fuel I even put more fuel. It has more than a quarter tank of gas. It can't be the fuel. When I try to start the car it sounds like it makes the sound of wanting to start but it sound like a dying remote control car. It's like slow motion.

Could it be the extreme cold? It's been pretty cold lately the other day it was below 0. The longest the car has been off for has been about a month at most. After trying to turn it on it seems to get weaker. It also misfired three times while trying to start the car. However after the three misfires it no longer ocurred. If I leave it alone for a day and try to start it up it turns on but turns off again after about 5 seconds.

What could it be?

could be a bad vac leak, could be an issue with the battery voltage when put under load, could be a coil pack(first guess after missing issue), or any number of other issues.

If I had to guess, I would start with the battery and couple that with a weak alternator, but idk....... it does start up as you say, but then falls off which could be a battery drained from a weak alternator that totally runs out and then cuts the engine......

but then agian idk, it is kind of hard to say without beig there.

So it does crank over and start, it just won't keep running? Maybe the cold crapped out your battery? put a volt meter on it and check what kind of voltage it's providing. If it's much under 12V, it's prob toast.

Well I'm going to give it any other try today because today it'll be 42 and it has been raining so much of the snow is now gone. I'm going to try to jump start the battery. I just hope it isn't the alt or the coils. I have a custom coil pack made out of GM parts and I'm not exactly sure hope the person who made it made it.

Thanks for the feed back..

Well it's not the battery nor the alt. I checked the Coils and its getting spark. I can't figure out what's the problem.

I'm hoping it's just a fuel problem and not timing..
