When I cold start my car it will stall within a couple of seconds. Normally if I mash the gas pedal it will stay running however it seems to be a chronic problem. I never have acceleration problems or warm start stalls.

I've already swapped out the fuel filter w/o any change in behavior. I've been told by one person that its the fuel pump, another person suggested I look at the idle air control vale. How can I be sure of which part to replace?

Any feedback would be much appreciated!

Thanks!-Greg

Did you check the MAF?

Thanks for the response!

Are you suggesting that I should clean the MAF? Similar to this post on how to do it for a Q45? http://www.q45.org/maf.html

Thanks!Greg

You can start by checking the connection first. They get corrorded/loose sometimes.

I'd lean towards the IAC valve first... A good cleaning might help.

I know it's bad netiquette to send users to another site, but you might also take a look at http://www.maxima.org to see if it's a common issue.

Thanks for the suggestion on the IAC. I picked up some electrical cleaner and am going to start with the MAF first as that looks a little more accessible under the hood.

Has anyone published step-by-steps instructions (or tools needed) to take the IAC off?

Well after cleaning the electrical contacts on the MAF yesterday (there was dirt & dust visible when I unclipped the plug) the car started right up cold however today its back to its old stalling ways.

Would spraying the MAF sensor down be a good next step in troubleshooting this?

Thanks!Greg

Spray it carefully with electrical parts cleaner or non-chlorinated brake cleaner.
