Im sure this has been coverd before and Im sorry to ask again but the search function seems to be broken for me. Anyways I did some searching myself and found nothing. I have an 89 hatch with a CA18DET, s15 turbo, fmich, 3" exhaust, Blitz Access ECU, blah blah. Ever since Ive had it I had to keep the idle set at about 2,000 RPMs(warm) to keep it from dying on me for the 5-10 minutes its in "Im cold so Im gonna run like crap" mode. And it just wants to stall out imediatly if its set any lower. Ive been told its the cold start sensor and Ive also been told "its a CA, deal with it". Im realy tired of handbraking down my drive way to keep it alive.Where exactly is this sensor, whats involved in fixing this problem? thanks in advance fellas, its much apreciated. -Shane

Could be temperature sensor (red one near thermostat), could be that IAC is blocked on non-functional (under throttle body). Could be that AAC valve is blocked (on side of plenum).

If you've messed with TPS, or the throttle butterfly 'stopper', then you need to go back to square one, and look at the things I suggested above.

You might also have your idle air bypasses wrongly hooked up to your intercooler piping.

Im not too keen on the abreviations, IAC is Idle Air Control right? Im not sure what AAC stands for. To adjsut the idle, I turned the screw in the bottom of the TB untill the idle came up. Also can these sensors be taken off a Pulsar NX CA18DE? I have no idea what the idle air bypass is or wher it is. The only thing conected to my intercooler piping is my FMIC and a Blitz BOV. Please if there is a writeup or something I missed, point me in the right directin. Thanks again fellas! -Shane

try stock ECU and see if problem persists.

You shouldn't adjust that screw. without resetting the TPS position. You now need to compensate the change in TPS idle position by the same amount you've changed the butterfly opening angle.

But I recommend putting it back, and fixing the real problem. Which is that you are missing hoses to your intercooler piping.

Download the factory manual in PDF.

The idle control needs a pipe to connect from the 'idle control block' to the intercooler piping in front of the throttle butterfly. As you don't have it..that's why your car won't idle.

Again..the Factory Workshop manual describes this requirement clearly.

By not using the factory idle control, and instead using 'AIV and changing throttle position' you have worked around the requirement, but have lost all value of the factory idle control that Microtech installers can't match..

You are also not getting off idle fuel enrichment until 1000rpm more revs, if you haven't re-adjusted the TPS.
