Some of you may remember bio posting a little tibit about the differences in the voltage outputs of the KA24E and CA18DET MAFs. Well, he wasn't blowing smoke.

Installed a new EPROM with bio's ROM, and low and behold, the car has ZERO cold start hiccups. Total night and day difference. It even vets the BOV with no worries any more. I can't wait to see what happens when I install my new O2 sensor and NGX iridium plugs.

3 years of cold start drama over. Bout time too.

Three years? Hahah. The word "ghetto" comes to mind. I'm glad to see you got it sorted out.

How hard was it to socket the ECU? I'm thinking about doing it so I can run my extra KA MAF when I finally get the chance to put the CA in.

Kind of a PITA. We used desoldering weave, and it worked really well. Getting the stock PROM out took about 90 minutes (getting the board totally clean), then about 20 more to get the socket installed. Plugged in the new EPROM, plugged it back it and away I went.

And yes, it was ghetto. And my perfectly clean head that JHot sent me is all filled with gook. Hopefully Seafoam will help, but running that rich for that long has its reprocussions.

What if my setup is as close to factory as possible? With most if not all factory equipment? I know it would be possible to get a cold start problem but wouldnt it be less likely if everything were hooked up correctly using the right parts(original parts meant for that specific engine).

It's only an issue of you're using the KA24E MAFS. If you've got the CA MAFS, then it's something else.

The KA24E MAFS on the CA makes the CA run lean.
