Alright I've got a 96 s14. KA24DE. I've put some work into it to get it clean and pristine. The engine runs great, and there seems to be no major issues. However, I have a cold start problem. The car has trouble starting when the engine is cold, having not ran for some hours. And the problem is much worse when the weather is cold. On a cold morning, I will go to crank, and it cranks strong (pretty positive it is not a starter or battery issue) but won't fire up. A couple more tries and it will eventually get going, and feathering the gas pedal is what really helps it to fire up. Then it runs great, idles smooth, and once the engine is warm, starting it back up is no problem.

I put a new coolant temp sensor on it and cleaned the IACV pretty well. The problem still persists. I have searched NICO a lot and found a few people had a similar problem, but didn't read of a solution. I've seen other people mentioned things about fuel and maybe an air regulator?

I just had a Viper 5704 installed and it has remote start so I'd really like to get this fixed. Anyone have any other suggestions or fix a similar problem?

Any help is greatly appreciated guys

My first thought is to check the fuel pressure. Could the pump be having trouble priming up for the start? Try turning to the ON position, not starting, like 3-4 times. Leave it ON for a few seconds then turn off. Then on the last one, crank it. Obviously do this from a cold start to see if it makes a difference.

Cool man thanks for the input I'll give that try. Not sure if it means anything or if it's normal, but after each attempt at cranking, right after I stop I can hear a noise, hard to describe, kind of a whine for a couple seconds, but I'm pretty positive it's something with fuel pressure. Maybe from somewhere in the engine bay. Could a bad fpr cause the problem?

I'll post back if what you said to do does anything

Check your fuses. If the ” start signal” fuse is blown it causes this exact problem.

St. Signal it is! A while back I had a different starting issue and I guess someone checked that fuse and then put it back in the wrong place. Wom wom wommm

Thanks a lot for the quick replies and for helping me solve it, much appreciated
