hey im hoping somewhere here can help me out. i just picked up a 95 s14 with a s14 sr blacktop motor in it. now when the motor is completely cold it has a hard time getting to start. it takes like 30 seconds and when its trying to start it feels like the motor is shaking the whole car. now once the motor starts its runs great no problems. after the car warms up i can turn it off and it will start right back up with no problems. i am stumped as to where to start or what to look for im hoping someone here has had the same problem or car point me in the right direction. ill even pay someone to come to my house and help me i leave in eastern pa

ok ill look into that im thinking now it might be a fuel issue. cuz the first couple cranks are just dead and then u start smelling fuel after 3 or 4 cranks then it will start so im thinking something with fuel but dont kno for sure yet havent had time to look at it

make sure you have a good coolant temp sensor, if not it will cause the car too run overly rich or lean and cause hard cold start. measure resistance and compare to fsm specs

there is no such thing as cold start signal wire. only thing that tells the ecm engine is cold is the coolant temp sensor, and it does not go through the F4 plug

alright i will look into the coolant temp sensor. if it is bad is the one of the ka motor the same? or do i have to get one from somewhere special? also anyone else have anything i should look into. is the stock fuel system sufficent or could it be i need a better fuel pump or maybe a new filter something along those lines? im kinda stumped

yeah my s13 sr did that too..only if it sat over night even in the summer hot nights the next day it still would have alittle trouble starting.. Im pretty sure it comes down to a timing issue. my timing was advanced
