so its that time to tune.

on a cold start (first start for teh day) the car doesnt wana start.

it turns over but wont fire, seems like the engine is getting flooded with fuel.i have to repeatedly stomp on the gass to get teh car to idle. once it catches it self it idles fine.

it does then when ever i turn the car on and then shut it off and try to turn it on again, also when i let off the gass. why?

i have msd 52lb injectors, a aeromotive fpr set at 43psi @ fuel rail.

the safc setting are : Low throttle 0% tps and -50% all the way. (im trying to get the car to idle before i start to tune driving.

the wide band at cranking and stomping on the gass is 10:1-9:1 then it leans out to about 16-17:1 once it catches it self.

the safc is maxed out at -50%, are my injectors to big and is floodin at cold start? or is it because the car is in open loop for a bit and its dumping fuel, so its dumping way to much fuel at idle cause it to choke and die.

can this be solved by reducing the rate of fuel entering the engine through the fpr maybe reducing it to 35psi?

thanks in advance

Ok first thing first.

double check your SAFC is wired in correctly.

second, -50 on 52lb should be just fine, if not even a bit lean at idle.

Now here is my question, cause this part did not make sense at all.

Does that mean when you get your car started it runs and idles fine until you depress the gas pedal?

Or does it mean once it's started it works fine?

If it's the first symptom I mentioned check for vacuum leaks. As those can be a huge *****, also check your IACV adjustments, and your in and out setting on the SAFC. I will tell you, on my car I ran a rom tune and a safc. For the longest time I had a problem with my car starting and idling cold and anything related with rpms between 1000 to 2500, and it was caused by my in and out settings which were jacked up.

I'm having almost the same problem. Check your plugs to see if you are really getting too much fuel. Mines are BLACK.

I have a Enthalpy tuned, S-AFC II and a PLX. I can't do anything about it, I can't even drive my car.

I hope you figure it out, sorry, I'm not much help.

what i mean is when i put the key in the ignition and crank the car, it turns over, and feels like its gona start then sputters and dies. i smell alot of fuel. and my plugs are black, im assuming that the car is getting flooded at crank.

what i have to do is crank the car and pump the gass to get the car to idle, once it catches itself it idles fine 17:1 at -45 on the safc.

im running a stock maf for now and my in/out is 6/6.

at idle on my boost gauge it reads 21. that seems fine, i checked for leaks and i cant find any.

now i was reading and i found that the factory fpr for idle is 34psi mines is 43psi, would that make a huge difference? im assuming so because their is alot more fuel in the rail, but then again it all depends how long the pulse width of the injector is to squirt fuel in. so im thinkin at idle i need to try to make the pulse width shorter to compensate for the fuel.

now i know i cannot do that with teh safc, so is there any way to quick fix that?

will settiing my decel air setting help any with this or is that only for the bov issue.

also what should my plugs be gaped at? .33?

thanks for the help

Hey friend try this for in out settings, 5/5. Looks like this is your problem. Also double check if you have spark too., and don't play with decel setting until you have your car running.

Another thing you can do is pull your fuel pump fuse and try to run the car. If it starts and runs for a bit then sputters out that means there is spark.

thanks s13fx.

i think it was the decair + fuel pressure.

i lowered the fpr to 34psi and then set the decel air setting now it start up right away, and after i rev it it catches the idle agin

well for my set up i usedthr- 7.2%ne1-1000 rpms-1.4%ne2-2000 rpms- 1.2%

that seems to work well for me.

thanks for the help

Set fuel pressure to 43psi with vacuum unhooked..
