I want an intake. I know that ram and cold work different on every car so i was wondering what is the best choice for the Z. If you have one, what do you have and would you recommend it. Also, anyone cut a hole in the hood to get better air to the intake slot near the bumper. So whats the best intake? Thanks in advance, Zack.

ok, im pretty much set on the aem cold air. Even comes in blue to match my car. BUT, injen is having a sale and their cold air are selling for 264 instead of the usual 400. Which is better, price is no issue!!

ram air is cold air by nature, and to my knowledge there is no am air kit for the Z, any way you got the gainns are going to be single digits so I'd take cost as a major part of the equation, and many of the short ram kits include baffels to keep the hot engine air out

I have the injen one, you can convert it to either short ram or long tube intake depending on what your mood is. If ever it rains for a long period of time during the week i just disconnect the silicon hose then clamp the filter back on the original end of the metal piping.

Let me know what you get and the results. I'm looking into an intake also. I've heard good things about the JWT pop charger.

Don't cut a hole in your hood to increase airfow to the intake the gains are minimal anyway there is no point in ruining a perfectly good hood. If you realy want to increase air flow to the intake get the titek carbon fiber air duct they look descent on the car and have a purpose. the air duct is also designed to keep any rain out of you filter so you dont have to worry about tht either

It doesnt matter all that much which way you go so i would consider prices over all, i picked up an injen for $150 on sale. It can be a short ram or cold air but i left it as short ram because im planning on getting the duct for the front bumper.

thenismoshop.com has the nismo cold air intake for $189.46. It comes with an air bypass system to prevent sucking up water when its raining. 5.5 HP and 4.7 lb-ft increase at the rear wheels.

i just bought it lol. How was installation? Did you put it right where the air box was or did you run it down to the fender for more air? Pics would be appreciated, if not just descriptions would be awesome too. Thanks a lot, Zack

bah we all know intakes are more for sound than performance anyway, amirite?

i mean, imagine a 5 horsepower car. take that amount of power and add it to what you've got. not exactly gonna knock your socks off.

but i digress, i'm just jealous because I don't own a Z33.

what yours didn't come like that?....

you know model cars (because its composite plastic-mines the original one) i used model car paint from the toy section at walmart, and a little paint brush.... the model car paint smooths its self out and requires no tape off if your careful.... i went back with a razor knife to chip off what i effed up, and it was all good! took about a half hour to go over and by the time i was done i went back over it because one side had started to dry. Then i let it sit for about 2 hours before i went out and cleaned it up with a razor knife.... There was no humidity in the garage though... it was last fall/winter when i did it.

Sorry been busy the past few days. Install was fairly easy. I got it done under 45 minutes. I'm sure you've already put it on by now. How do you like it? Post some pix!
