I just got my fist 240, its an 89 with a ka24d. it sat in an old mans yard for 2.5 years with out ever being started. i have done a full tune up(plugs, wires, cap&rotor, pcv valve), and changed all fluids. it runs great once it warms up completely, but you have to keep your foot lighly on the gas untill then to keep it running. if you don't it sputters and dies. i have adjusted the idle screw once warm and have it set at about 800-900rpms. Any help would be awesome.

you might want to check and/or replace the Coolant Temperature Sensor since that is in charge of sending more fuel to your cylinders when engine is cold helping it warm up and have a steady idle. one question though, once it warms up does idle an good at all? if it does have a steady idle when warm then the CTS might be your problem. taking it out and cleaning it might also help.

also when you start your engine from a cold start it is supposed to idle high..higher than it would when warm and another part that controls this is the idle air regulator so you make want to check into that. but these dont go bad very often so its probably a long shot. the temperature sensor is a good place to start.
