Just got back from looking at a redtop and the only test we were able to do is compression. The starter is frozen so we couldn't do it that way; so we turned the crank bolt instead. The motor has been sitting for a while and we got 80 80 110 70 compression. I am not sure if these are good results as the motor was cold and was turning by hand. We did add a drop of oil to cyl 4 and it bounced from 70 to 85ish. Can anyone comment on if these are decent results or is the motor weak.

Thanks,

Bryan

You usually prefer it to be pretty even across the board. Is it possible to pull the head and check the cylinder walls? Do you know about how long it has been sitting?

From what I was told it has been sitting for 2 years. I was able to look through the the spark plug socket with my LED pen and the walls looked good. Pistons were black, but little to no carbon buildup.

I wish I was could have done a leak test it but was unable to.

Even though they are a tad uneven, I don't even know I would trust the numbers to begin with.

Thanks,

Bryan

Ya. I guess if the price is low enough then grab it and rebuild it.
