Do sleepy eyes, and you have more airflow for free.

vented headlight covers just allow massive rainwater to get where it doesn't belong... I've seen it... its messy. If you have them... be prepared to stuff something in them when it rains...

have you considered getting some ducts routed to the area where your filter is located?

I have the C-West headlight cover..Ill has about a 3" by 1" opening for air,Looks like it works well.you can see the air filter though the opening..But to get it work you have to cut the back of the headlight bracket. It covers the hole on the headlight cover..And you have to remove the black seal behind the headlight too..

before everyone talks smack, i was only going to do one side, but my engine was out, and my body guy just did an FC, and did the wrong side. i ended up liking it so we kept it. cant say how much it helped because i did a cooling panel at the same time, but temps went down (and an AZ summer is killer on a SR so everything helps) ive driven in the rain several times and never had any problem with water getting in.

This seems to be a more practical solution to your issue. Otherwise, just get a vented hood. The more vents you have, the cooler your engine bay (obviously), but also it could help to circulate more cool air around the filter too.
