R2C will provide the best of both worlds.

I'm assuming the filters are not reuseable? They are dry filters, right?

Those filters will last longer than your car... they require compressed air to be cleaned.

Ok. So, they are kinda like a K & N in that you wont need to buy more of them when they get dirty. Cool.

They are dry filters so they are not really like K&N as those need to be oiled.

You just need to pull the filters off and dust them off with compressed air then reinstall.

Yeah, it's my daily driver and it sits outside quite a bit.

I clean under the hood at least twice a year. I use terry towels and Showtime or Quick Detailer. I will occasionally go over the rubber and plastic with some Armor All as well and polish the intakes and FSTB with chrome/aluminum cleaner. At least once a year I do a relatively thorough cleaning of the body. If I'm going to a car event I take more time. It's been years since I've been to a big event so I'm spending much more time on it these last couple days as I'll be at the Dragon meet. To clean the paint I did 1 stage of hand waxing with Meguiar's cleaner wax (I clay bar'd the car a few months ago and the paint was pretty clear of contaminants anyway), followed by 1 stage of waxing using Mother's Brazillian Carnauba cleaner wax with an electric polisher. By this point the paint is quite clean. I followed up with a final wax coating of Turtle Wax Ice. Yeah, bunch of different products but I'm out of some portions of my "staged" products like Sonus.

So, you use compressed air to clean the R2C's....does it not move the fibers creating gaps? Do you ever pick up any oil or other sticky substance that compressed air does not get rid of??
(Still looking for proof that R2C filters as good if not better than my WIX paper filters.) I'm not knocking the filters, just looking for info. Have seen enough info on how K&N doesn't do a good job of filtering and have several collecting dust in my building and have gone back to WIX.

I just ordered the spray cleaner and spray oil for my K & N's through Amazon. I think the spray oil will be a lot quicker and easier than the squirt bottle type oil.

Don't overuse the oil or you will screw up your MAF's.

Thanks, I think I remember someone saying that on this forum before. Just a light coat I'm assuming is all it needs. Does it damage them somehow?

Follow the instructions explicitly. Too much oil allows the oil to be slowly sucked up the tube and eventually coat the MAF which screws air/fuel mixture, and in most cases I've seen, destroys the maf.

I would recommend dry-type filters. I've seen MAFs slowly crap out because of oil filters.

I already have the K & N's so Ill probably just stick with those and try not to over oil. I had a aem with K & N filter on a previous car and didnt have a problem. Or, I could try to order just the r2c filters and use them on my existing k & n intake if they will fit. People using the Stillen gen 3 seem to like it and those use k & n filters as well though. I thought about ordering the entire r2c intake then trying to sell my k & n intake. I dont think i wantt todeal with that though. Plus, i just got done with the UpRev tune on my car. If I change anything with the intake ill have to do it all over again.

Stillen gen 3 gets wet whereas the R2C stay dry. I don't think using the R2C filters with a gen 3 would let them last long.

I meant using my existing K & N intake and using the R2C's filters instead of the K & N oiled filters.

If the R2C filters fit the intake ends to it, then go for it. Get in touch with user Red_Det, he's awesome, helpful, and knowledgeable (damn, I deserve some free schwag! ;) ) ...and he could hook you up with what you need at a good price if you decide to go all in with R2C or just get the filters...

---also---
I cleaned out my R2C filters about a month ago with compressed air. You don't force air directly on to any one spot, more like you are just giving it a faster blast of air at different angles to remove the surface debris, and force air from the backside to remove the deeper set dust. I set my output pressure at approx. 60psi and forced air from a distance of maybe 6 inches away. You certainly don't get right on top of it, that would damage the fibers. You still have to be relatively careful with them, but not "fine China" careful.

OK, thought you meant with the Stillen :)
