cold air intake trouble

i recently installed a short ram intake on my 05 g35x sedan and now my check engin light keeps going on and there is nothing else the matter with the car.. any suggestions?

You may have damaged your MAF sensor. Have a dealer pull the code to verify...

which intake did you install?

Are you resetting the CEL code yourself? or does it keep turning on/off?

no all im doing is resetting the cpu in the car by detaching the battery cables waiting about 5 min or so and putting them back on. and the light may take 2 or 3 weeks to turn back on. and i may turn on for a few day and then turn back off and stay of.

i forgot i did a little experiment i reinstalled the stock intake with all the stock components and the check engine light went off and stayed off.

Is the car idling any different? should be 650-750 at idle when the car is warm...

It sounds like you have a leak somewhere to me.

What INTAKE is it?

well the intake name is fujita . i think u may be right about the leak. i took off the intake and re installed the stock one and drove with it for 2 weeks or so and the light turned off the next time i started the car and i didnt reset the cpu either. so i made a gasket for the MAF sensor. and reinstalled the after market intake being careful to look for spots that can leak and the light has been off for a while now and hasent turned on again. and the car is idling normal it is high at startup but thats normal after it gets warm idle is between 600 and 800 i think i will double check and get back to you on that .

Fujita is reputable and a good intake.

Your idle should be like i said...650-750. I would say 650-700 is where I normally see them idle.

If it comes back on you should go to Autozone or Checker and have the code read so we can identify what the likely cause is.

yeah i checked out idle today and it it at normal idling rpm i also garage the car so it dosent take long for high idle to come down and idle is where it is supposed to be between 650 and 700 rpm. i will keep auto zone in mind i forgot they can pull the code for me.

thats a normal idle. Its possible that the MAF has a problem...but it could be unrelated as well. Get the codes read if it comes back on and then let us know.

light came back on today may 27 dont know why. i am gonna go to auto zone and get the code pulled on the 28 or i will wait until sat the 30th because the car is goin in for transmission fluid change. will keep posted

had the car diegnoses by auto zone today and thier machine said idle is higher than normal . then the light went off next time i started the car going to have the dealer check it out
