Alright so the previous owner apparently installed Injen pipes with cold air intake..
you know those fancy intake pipes that most people dont recommend installing on anything other than a TT..

Well it looks like the drivers side has the cold air tube&filter under the car and he wrapped it in tape.. :nono:
The passenger side looks like it may or may not have had the same setup, either way as it sits right now that tube was either designed to be closed or was melted closed. basically a stub sittin there.

Im not too familiar with cold air, but im assuming if water gets into that cold air filter and into the intake system it can potentially kill the engine for good?

Is the filter being taped killing performance at all?
Would it be best to close this tube, removing the cold air, like on the passenger side?
Or remove the tape from the cold air filter when weather permits and retape when it does not?

thatd prob be easier ill take some pics when I get off work

seems like it has a bottom-feeder intake (the mentioned taped driver side filter under the car), and the usual intake at the T-section under the nose panel

looks liek ti goes inline between the afm and the tb's so youst take them off and plug the holed, or get that hard [pipe fomr a TT which does nto have that drop on it

What i did during my NA to TT conversion was remove those pipes capping the ends and removing the fender boxes, car runs fine no problems. Just remove the rings and pipes coming off the bottom of the big t-pipe your MAF plugs into and close em up with either welding a plate on them or sealing the hole with some rubber sheets or something that does NOT allow air in or out of the pipe.
