cold air intake

i have a 89 240sx manual trans and wondering if cold air intake is good for fuel efficient. thanks

cold air intake won't do much either way. but you can think of it as the more hp you add, usually the lower your mpg will be.

However, if your current pipe is leaky or your filter is bad, changing your intake might help.

When I just put a CAI on my car, mpg went down the first month because I kept flooring it everywhere. For the most part, it stays w/in 1 mpg more or less.

If you want a fuel efficient car, then you can just drop in a new filter, k&n if you want. The cold air intake doesn't make any difference at all unless you want a slightly better sound or your current pipe is busted.
