I had buddy that told me he wasn't sure but thought if i bought a cold air intake and had the dealer install it then it wouldn't void my warranty. Anyone know if this is true? He said he thought thats what they told him at the toyota dealership. I know it's not nissan but was wondering if this was true or if I could buy one threw the Nissan dealership and it not void my warranty or if they even offer one.

P.S. it's for a 2009 Coupe 2.5 L

Don't even worry about voiding your warranty man, you won't.

sorry to thread jack but this sort of relates. does anyone have just the K&N drop in air filter? did it change the sound of the car in the higher RPMs? or is the sound because of the larger piping? I ask cuz I've heard some cars (like my friend's eclipse he had) sound really loud like an aftermarket intake with just the filter. if so, I might just replace the filter and modify the existing intake.... stupid California and their damn CARB legal laws

The only way it'll void the warranty is if they can prove that your modification caused whatever problem you're trying to have fixed under warranty. An intake is easy enough to replace, so if anything were to ever happen where you thought they'd blame the intake, just replace it with the stock intake and go to a dealer that never saw the aftermarket one. Even that's probably overkill. I don't think you'll have any issues.

if you really want to be sure, ask the dealership. if they say yes it does void you warranty, ask them to show you where it says that in the warranty paperwork so you can see it in writing.

Is there even a CAI available for 2.5Ls? Just out of curiosity...

Nope there are no true CAI for any 2007 plus altima.

You can buy my K&N intake and install it yourself with Marisha's tutorial.

The drop in K&N in the OEM airbox set up doesn't change the sound. The hp increase is probably minimal compared to CAI. My old ride had an after market CAI. It was pretty loud when you first started it but the computer adjusted to the airflow and then the noise reduced. A bit more of whine when you jumped on it with the CAI though.
