Will slight moisture or anything else with an injen cai cause the check engine light to go off? is it safe?

I wondered the same thing when i was gonna buy an intake, I went with the AEM short ram and used ducting to get cold air to the filter so I dont have to worry about suckin up water.

ive had my injen setup w/ extension for a couple weeks now, it rained and snowed hear in chicago and i had no problems at all, just stay away from big puddles thats all...u dont want to completely submerge that filter in water...then youll have such problems as, hydrolock...etc...

well i live in nc and im getting ready to go to georgia to buy a 98 SE 5spd from a guy. Its already got exhaust/intake. He told me that sometimes the check engine light comes on due to a little moisture in the intake. I had never heard of such a thing and was wondering if anyone else had. Carfax said the car was fine so Im just wondering if the intake is doing it or if it's something else.

yeah, im not worried about hydro lock, im mainly wondering if a little moisture in the intake would cause the light to come on...b/c if not, then there may be something else wrong with the car causing it to come on

my thought is NO ive never had that problem during a rainstorm or otherwise. You'd have to completely submerge the intake or have no filter for something like that to happen. It has to be something else. When you check the car do a test to see what codes the ecu is flashing and you will know whats going on.

nope.. a little bit of moisture wont hurt the engine at all. Ive even learned that its actually an old trick (on them damned domestics anyway) to use a common garden spray nozzle to inject water INTO the intake tract to reduce intake temperatures.as long as you dont completely submerge the intake, it shouldnt be setting off any MILights.

if your gonna buy this car spend 75 bucks and take it to a nissan dealership to get it checked out, if its something serios it was worth the money if its not you at least know all the minor repairs youve got on your hands.

wow, I thought this thread was dead! I checked it myself, code was EGR system, but it idles fine and gas mileage is decent so no biggie. Mystery solved...and yes, I bought it. I'm very happy with it.

so im guessing from reading this that a headlight cover with vent (for s13) wouldnt let enough water in to damage my engine?
