Coin Holder Fix?

Discussion of Infiniti's amazing (and underrated) sport-luxury crossovers, the EX35 and EX37. For 2014, the EX series will be renamed QX50, in line with Ininfiit's new naming conventions.

Hi all,

I accidentally dropped a coin underneath the coin holder compartment, the coin got in the way and now the door won't swing all the way down.

I couldn't really access the power outlet or the coin tray (taking it out fully) ..

Anyone have a tip on how to fix this ? I don't have a strong enough magnet to fish the coin out either :(

Thanks !

You might need to remove that center console piece... The first steps of the NavHack DIY will tell you how.

Push down the shifter boot
remove the clip in the shifter knob and pull the knob up and off.
pull the center conlose up (unclips) by the cup-holder....

The same thing happened to me! My coin holder cover won't fully open now.

yikes, I would prefer not to take apart the center console but I guess that would be the only option for now.

Thanks for the input , I'll toy around to see if I can find any other methods by fishing the coin out somehow :)

Well I just want to make a post here to close the case. A friend lend me a dart-like fridge magnet and I was able to stick it in there and got the coin out ... I think those magnetic screwdriver set could work too. Thanks again !

Wow - didn't know coins were magnetic.

Glad you got it out. Heck, if it can slide in that little space, it should be able to slide out too!

Its an ashtray not a coin holder. which is probably why coins keep getting caught in there? :gotme
I dont keep coins in there - too noisy.
I have a little zippered wallet I keep in the center console - silent coin carrying... then again I'm thinking like a girl on these kinds of issues.

You know, there are coin holders in the center console storage. Enough for about $2 in quarters. I keep my keys in my pocket and never remove them driving, or to open the door, which is great. I often stick my iPhone in the "ashtray", but have to be careful not to crush my finger tips when I put the car in park. You probably know what I'm talking about...

I am able to remove the knob shifter.
Do i have to put car into neutral before I pull up the center console?
Seem like the center console is hard to pull it up.

ok, i put it into drive mode, and able to pull the center console up.
I couldn't find the light, but I see the little hole where u can put the light in.
This is weird. Why the light is missing? I think I do have the light when I bought it as new. I guess i have to ask dealer when my next service is up since I still have warranty.

I know all about this, too !

Sometimes the phone is plugged in and the cord gets scrunched up too, against the shifter.
