Since my car is going away for a while to get all the new parts made for it, I was thinking of changing the ugly stock coilpack cover to a new design. Here's what I have came up with.

I was thinking a carbon fiber sheet like this

What do you guys think?

If you're going make the effort (and I do think the carbon fiber would look cool) it'd probably be worth it to incorporate some vents in your design. Fried coil packs suck.

Do they really fry that often. I would think that nissan would have thought of that.

When I was looking around for info on the CA I kept coming across people who had fried them. Though oddly, most of them were in Australia. Maybe its the heat down there. I've seen it on both CAs and RBs though; people removing the covers entirely or cutting the hell out of them to get some heat off the coil packs.

I just took the cover off. It also helps with the whole cop issue here in Cali cause my 240 came with a SOHC KA but the cover says Twin Cam.

I was thinking maybe some diamond mesh. You can buy the stuff for a few bucks a roll at home depot. Cut and form it to fit and paint is a nice shiney black.....or whatever color.

I'll leave it open or place some vented plexiglass there.

I agree with cortina, the coil packs cause a few problems here, I've gone through a few. I run my engine without the coil cover on it due to this. There always seems to be spares about however.

I find that nothing works pretty well at being extremely light
