Coilovers? What are my options?

What's up everybody,

I need to replace my suspension, and I am debating between Powertrix SS coilovers and KYB GR-2 with Eibach Springs and a complete bushing kit.

Problem is this, the Powertrix cost about $869 and the KYB's with the springs and kit will run about $800.

Obviously the Powertrix are better but if you include the front and rear camber arms, tension rods, etc, you gotta tack on an additional $1k!

So here is my question, do I absolutely need the additional hardware, or can I just run the coil overs? I do NOT need to lower the car right away, although I plan on it in the future, at which time I could buy the additional hardware, but to shell out $1,800 is a bit much right now.

Please let me know what my options are. Thanks guys.

Pete

IF you want to run low and not destroy your tires and wheel bearings you will need all the bits to fix the camber. Also, powertrix is some of the best stuff you can get for a Z32 so I'd say get the powertrix, run around at stock height until you get all the other bits then install everything and go low.

Just got mine from the website. They are running a group buy so the price will only be $860 compared to over $1k.

Go with the coilovers, its only $60 more and they are rebuildable, awsome product, and adjustable height. The kyb and eibachs are not. With that set up, you are at the height and thats it. If you want lower, new springs. Another 250. If you want to go back to stock height, all you have to turn. OEM springs, your taking everything apart.

I have not heard one person upset with coilovers, but many people upset with different springs because it was never as low as they thought it would be.

Yeah and with coilovers if you need to raise it up or lower it down to run different wheels and/or tyres you can. +1 for the coilovers

Charles at Powertrix will also sell you the adjustable bits at GB pricing which saves quite a bit right there as well.
They are currently running their last ever GB on their coilovers, so now or never.
Do yourself and your Z a favor and get the right stuff... :bigthumb:

Which set do you recommend me buying? SS or Ultralite? Budget is not an issue. I want something that can be stiff, adjustable. And do I need to buy any other accessory parts with it? How do I qualitfy for the group buy, do I just mention it to them?

Sorry for the newb questions, but I'm a newb lol.

Just call up Powertrix from the number on their site, and I guarantee Charles will keep you talking for awhile as he goes over everything with you. Mention you are looking at buying coilovers through the group buy and are also interested in the adjustable pieces you'll need to run low at gb prices and you'll be off and running. Charles is a really nice guy and VERY knowledgeable, and will make SURE you know what you are buying, and why... :dblthumb:

If this is the last time there will be a group buy, I might as well go for the best right? UL would be the way to go.

I bought Tein springs and new struts, and really wish I had gone with coilovers. Not quite as low as I'd hoped. I'm definitely switching to them as soon as I get some other stuff taken care of.

Sorry, forgot your first question...I myself got the Race version as the valving is the same as the Ultralites, only difference is the aircraft aluminum body of the UL. You can also get different spring rates if you choose for a race setup.
Basically the UL's only pay off if you are setting up a race car and weight is a premium concern...but Charles will go over all of that (and more!) with you.
