Just picked up my first set of coilovers ((JIC Magic)),

Now I'm new to coilovers, but i want these to go as low as possible, I was wondering if there are anyways to make them go even lower that people do to coilovers...?

I hear people remove collars, theres 3 on these can i take them all off?

Coilovers have two collars and one spring perch. You cannot remove the perch, it holds the spring in place. You can remove the other two smaller collars but ONLY if you have the bottom mount slammed up against the perch to the point where there are no threads left.

Yeah, and are those 17s or 18s?

Okay, so I can remove the bottom 2, and yeah i planned on maxing it out that far. Trying to think of ways to go farther. lol

To go any farther, you either need to get shorter front springs or Powered By Max coils.

I chose to do both.

haha thanks. one more question. xD

What tire sizes are you running?

I will be running 18s with 245/55 rear and 235/35 front.

Don't do that.

Why I want more sidewall in the rear, and I'll be drifting so I want a smaller sidewall in the fronts because i don't want to much oversteer.

yeah, you don't want too much sidewall, 'cause you'll get mad tire roll, which really bites when you don't have full traction. trust me, I've had experience, 45 is the largest side wall you want to go, period.

Would a 255/40 be a bit better?

I don't see why not, it'd be plenty wide enough too. (gobs of grip)

help urself out http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html

also if u r going w/ 18s id opt for something in the 35s for the aspect ratio, maybe a 255/35/18 for the rear for example. this size would be pretty close to stock tire diameter so it wouldn't throw ur speedo or final drive off too much.

but... dont listen to me, im one of those anti stretch tire people.

oh and also... this is all highly dependent on ur wheel width as well

255/40/18 on the back with a 225/45/18 up front. Punch the tire sizes into one of the many tire size calculators on the intrawebs and the 255's have a 102mm side wall, where the 225 has a 101mm side wall.

Very true its not, but thats not why I posted, I was just trying to give him a visual on the amount of side wall a 255/40/18 tire has vs. something that is a little more comonly seen on our cars,(225/45/xx) as he was conserned with the amount of side wall he would have, not if it would rub or not.

And we would need to know alot more than just the tire size to be able to answer if it will rub.

I'm cutting the wheel well out as much as i can with 30mm over fenders with 18x9 -10 rims. 255 won't rub.. but i might run 245 on the safe side.

Yeah, you've got nothing to worry about.

It looks even better now that I've dropped that extra 1/2" out of the front that I gained from the sr swap. The funny thing is the rear coils are adjusted as high as they can safely go.
