wooooooooow

coilover sleeves are frowned upon, normally theyre poor quality and can fail during operation.

as for s13 to s14 differences, no.

s14s have longer struts and stuff, so they probably wont work. though they wont work too well even if you get the ones meant for your car.

just my opinion though, Sir Driftsalot.

Ok, sorry.

First of all is price when you are comparing coils to springs. Lowering springs are around a few hundred dollars and replace just the spring and retain the shock/strut. The are a cost effective way to lower your car without spending gobs of money and completely sacraficing ride quality. On the complete opposite end of the spectrum are coilovers. They are the shock and spring all-in-one. They aren't two seperate pieces like the oem suspension shocks/springs. They vary in price from about $600+. They are much stiffer than any oem suspension, lowering springs, aftermarket spring/shock combo. The added stiffness means much better handling. You would be amazed how much a better a 240 handles on coils than on lowering springs. Also, most coilovers nowadays have adjuatable ride-height and dampening. Ride height is how low/high you want the car to be off the ground, duh. Dampening is how fast the spring rebounds when pressure is released. Usually, the more money you fork over, the btter adjustability you get, but not always. That's pretty much a quick intro to coils for you. If you need anymore info just ask around.

Sorry if I came off as an a**. There's alot of people here who ask stupid questions because they either think it's funny or they ask them but they don't care to learn. Welcome to NICO btw, and I hope you're here to stay.

Have you used the search function at all? Of course coilovers are better. I think mrgreeneyes has a quote about lowering an s chassis on stock length dampers...it's retarded. (the concept, not the quote lol) Please search before making any other threads.

^ No prob. If you want some more detailed info about how the suspension works, just visit the suspension forum on here. And, like Chris28 said, SEARCH! Not everybody is as friendly on here as me and alot of members will immediately flame you. There's tons and tons of info on this site, and if you just take a few moments to search, you'll almost always find the info you're looking for beacuse chances are, it's been covered multiple times already.

Remember, the search button is your friend.

True, but the first lyrics that came to my head that kind of went with the song happened to include an open diff. (also i doubt the op has an lsd) I would have gone with panasports or watanabes, but i got the rotas for a pretty good deal and they were the size/offsets i was looking for, so I went ahead and got them.

I moved this thread into the suspensions forum. For future reference, please post threads in the correct forum (so I don't have to move it )

and in regards to coilovers vs. coilover sleeves/ spring/ strut combos, I just wanna say that not all coilovers sleeves are crap. I've heard nothing but good reviews on ground control sleeves with Konis, or even RSR race springs on Konis... most even say that they handle better than most entry level japanese coilovers.

but if you're looking to get a low drop, forget about it, lol.

I think I am stupider now, for reading that....

HUH?? How are OEM springs and shocks 2 pieces, but coil overs (Which BTW ARE SPRINGS AND SHOCKS WITH THREADED SHOCK BODIES) any different???? At least on a 240 anyways.
AZ89two4Tsx wrote:They are much stiffer than any oem suspension, lowering springs, aftermarket spring/shock combo.
WOW, so I must really not have 700 pound springs on the front of my car and 450 pound springs in the rear, which BTW, is on shocks and adjustable lower spring perches(Threaded sleeves)
AZ89two4Tsx wrote:Also, most coilovers nowadays have adjuatable ride-height and dampening.
Yeah, because neither Koni, nor KYB have adjustable shocks. And Neither Koni, nor Ground Control make threaded sleeves to adjust ride height.
AZ89two4Tsx wrote:Dampening is how fast the spring rebounds when pressure is released.
HUH??????WTF does dampening have to do with springs????? (other than the fact that they are essentially oscillators, and oscillation is what dampers control) Seriously. I can't even begin to describe how wrong this is. Dampers (shocks) control the oscillation of the unsprung and the sprung weight. Rebound controls the Chassis (sprung) oscillation, and compression controls the wheels(unsprung) oscillations.

This depends more on the manufacture than the price. Although any shock worth a **** is expensive as hell.

Not trying to be a d!ck, but that is some seriously bad information you have.

BTW, I have been rolling on springs and shocks with threaded sleeves for over a year with no issues. But I also have name brand EQ, not knock off's.
