Purchased Megan coilovers after about a week heard loud clunking noise. Found out the 17mm bolt loose I tightened that , but still hear noise when going over slow bumps from rear coilovers.

Contacted Megan said that it should be the pillar bar mount, had performance shop try to identify the source they said the PBM didn't have play but was most likely the source.

Coilovers still underneath warranty but Megan will not replace without definitive proof of noise anybody else with the same issue?

Did you install them yourself? The first thing that comes to mind is, did you preload each spring/strut properly? A quick couple searches on youtube will show you how to preload coilovers before install.

Yes I installed them myself and I didn't preload them thats funny because Megan and the performance shop didn't mention anything about preloading the springs to eliminate the clunking noise.

After reading up on preloading, if I do preload then put the weight of the car on the springs its impossible to adjust the ride height.

you don't have to remove the coilover to adjust pre-load but the coilover must not have any pressure on it at all (best if unbolted from the bottom). It's adjusted with the top seat ring.

Ride height is adjusted to your liking with the 3rd ring or last ring.

I have the LP series Megans, the rear spring is sperate from the shock body, I thought adjusting the 1st and 2nd ring on the spring is for height adjustment?

Sad to say but most that have the non-true coilovers have the rears set up or adjusted wrong.

Thus the reason most are going with D2 Racing which are true coilovers. Adjustment & installation is much easier.

On your set up you have to adjust the rear spring 1st and than adjust the strut.

See if this link helps you. I plan to use it for when my BC's come in (also not a true coilover).

Another reason why I did not purchase Megan coilovers, is because they cannot be rebuilt.

Did search on most coilovers D2, BC, Megans, Tiens and Tanabe they all will make noise noise if not now but later in the future, spoke with a couple of guess from a performance shop and they confirmed this.

They recommended KW's which most stocked Benz and BMW's use, you will however have to use the top mount from your OEM's.

I plan on putting the stock rears back on while leaving the adjustable springs in place so I can adjust the height to match the front, let me know how everything turns out for you.
