Post

Hello NICO! The main topic of this post is about coilovers but I might as well introduce my self. The name is Andres. I reside in Goodyear, AZ which is just a couple miles from Phoenix (Home of the Phoenix Suns!!! ) I recently purchased an '89 white s13 coupe. 150K miles on the ka24e and chassis and its a 5 speed. It took me a month and a half to find a coupe in good condition and it paid off. Its my DD (I totaled my '02 se-r spec v ). Plans for it:

-silvia front conversion (bricks and gtr grille)-buy, build, and swap a ka24de (boost, looking for 350hp to the wheels)-buy extra 5 speed for aforementioned swap-redo interior (new seats, carpet, headliner, fix cracked dash, etc...)-suspension (coilovers, bushings, sway/strut bars, etc...)-5 lug conversion-z32 brake caliper swap-2 tone paint (white up top, bronzish on bottom)-Rota P45r's in sports bronze 17" x 9.5 all around-Window tint-And... uh... there may be more but i forget...

sorry for the delay but here are some pichas!!

Welcome fellow Arizonian!

Why not boost the sohc? It's a very potent motor and can just as easily make the power #s a DE can.

For good advice/reviews on suspension, check out the suspension forum:

Btw, the best bang for the buck in coils these days seems to be "Powered by Max," or so I hear.

Oh and, pics of the ride are mandatory! Welcome to NICO.

^ What does your sentra motor have to do with your 240 motor?

Anyways, do wateva, I know I'm boosting my sohc. Good luck on the silvia conversion and +1 for the bricks. That's what I got!

because I am partial to dohc's. i'am used to them, and since the qr25de is dohc, i want my coupe to have a ka24de. i'm not saying that sohc is bad, i just want a de. hope that clears your confusion

Search FTW!

But anyways i'll just say i ahve stances and i love them, but when adjusted to the softest setting they're alittle stiff, but not to stiff.

Also do they make Goodyear tires in Goodyear Arizona? If so you shouyld try and get a deal off them for driftin.

^^ haha Goodyear (the city) used to be just a Goodyear (tires) manufacturer. Or a Goodyear tires dealer, one of those, but it was just that way back when now its a good sized city out of phoenix.

I know it can and has been done, but I think it is a waste of time nonetheless. I guess you can look at it two ways:

1. If you want to be different because you're one of those people, go ahead and waste your time and money building a turbo SOHC. You may or may not make the same numbers as somebody with an SR who spent much less time and money on their motor... but hey, at least you're different, right?

2. If your goal is just to make power, it is such a waste of time to use the SOHC as a platform. There is close to no aftermarket support for these motors. Why use a motor with no parts available for it, when you can get a motor that has a wide range of parts for it?

I wouldn't say it is futile to turbo the KAe. What is futile is the KAe head work that needs to be done to make them get nice numbers. If you can build a motor you can make a nice cheap KAe-t. If you can't build a motor, then you should probably stick to bolting things on and praying you don't break anything.

I think there was a guy on here that knew someone who drags 240's and used sohc because it was faster than the DOHC.
