I dealt with this a while ago with my D2's. As you guys already know our streets are riddled with pot hole patches and wavy pavement from rigs. It was so bad when it was lowered on anything above 20. If I went under 20 my car would bottom out. I raised my car to factory height and set the settings to lowest and found it to be excellent for a while. After some time it's almost as if the shocks become more compliant over time and they really began being too soft especially around corners. I am currently back to 20 on all 4 corners and it's not too bad but I'm thinking of going up to 25. At the same time I believe my sway bar end links are on the way out as well because there are noises. I'll be under the car this Friday diagnosing the noise issue and changing the settings to 25.
Here are my quick descriptions of each setting
36 - Brain rattling, bucking bronco and excessive bouncing in my seat. Made me LOL too many times. Amazing around corners (Like on rails).
30 - Slightly less Brain rattling, still bucks and slightly less bouncing. Still amazing around corners.
26 - Seems to be the best setting for rough roads. Absorbs some of the rattling, still bucks but that's just the car over our rough roads and less bounce. Corners seem to be more compliant and similar to stock.
20 - Great setting on a straight line especially if your roads are bad. Much more absorbing. Still some bucking but less annoying. Cornering at higher speeds is slightly scary (Again this may be due to my end links).
15- Nice and comfy. Great for geezers and me. Unfortunately I found the ride to be fairly wobbly and around the corners it was worst than stock.
0 - Very comfy. Feels like a 76 caddy. Forget the corners unless you're doing 10MPH (Lot's of body roll). I did enjoy this setting, however on certain roads where the car would buck it wouldn't stop bucking until it happened at least 5 times after the uneven road section.
The pain in the rear is adjusting the rears. Given you have the M45 I would have gone with the TEIN super street coilovers with the electronic adjusting system. It's 4 stepping motors attached to the top of the shocks and a controller where you set your shock settings on the fly. Very cool stuff.
