I saw a few threads on this, but decided to post a new one to see if anything has changed. Im looking to get a set of coilovers, either D2 or Megan. Those both seem to fit my price range. If anyone has these set-ups, how do you like them? Whats your spring rate? how much of a drop did you get out of them? ETC...

+1

I'm jumping in on this thread, looking for a set for the ride. From the most recent posts I've seen, ~ last 2yrs, D2 seemed to be best bet, but will consider other options.

I'm going with d2, couple more Weeks I'll pull the trigger!! I've read and heard first hand how great they are and how many other people switched from other brands...easier to convert to air afterwards!! Air is likely in my future mods... Don't know your plans though.. :gotme

Ya thats most likely the route I'm going to...I'm either getting the coilovers first or the BBK...bodyguard have you heard of any issues as far as having to get a camber kit afterwards or should they be good al by themselves

Coilovers are adjustable so I would say camber shouldn't be an issue as long as you ride at a level where alignment can still be done at specs or very close to it. With my future plans for my stance camber is a good thing. When I go air it will be better and easier to avoid tire camber wear. Lower and raise on the fly!! :yesnod I'm lowered on eibach and I'm as close to spec as possible and the two places I've done alignment I haven't been told of any issues.. If you want to ride slammed all the time then I'm not there yet so couldn't help with that... I really haven't heard ANY bad things or experiences with the D2 coilovers...

I considered both bbk and coilovers and decided to do coilovers since my brakes are still good! My new wheels clear bbk so I am ready for that but decided just to paint my calipers for now... Didn't think I would consider air either but I feel I will most likely end up doing it so d2 coilovers my best choice! :bigthumb:

Awesome! Ill probably order them the first or second week into May. And I would LOVE to do air, however, I don't want to have a bumpy ride seeing as how my other ride is a slammed S10

Ok, yeah that's David's car! He has the same wheels as me only different finish. His car sits awesome!! I'll check with him on specs and parts he used and I'll post up later today for you! (and for me lol) He sold those wheels not sure what he's going with now but his car is clean!!!

Ok. I got with David on his set up he says no additional parts were used. They got to -3 all around, that's very little to no camber but he's on air not coilovers so not sure that will help us... Again just depends what level we set our height we should be good!!

I asked him before says ride is great its UAS over stock struts but says coilovers are safer and better with air systems!
Other guys I've exchanged information with say the same... It is a safer and much better quality ride with coilovers!!

Hmmm I'm interested to see the fabrication that went into it and if anything needs to be cut/welded and modified

From what I've been told they are straight bolt on kits for our M! Front end can be modified slightly to lay frame down on the ground but with bolt on parts they are slammed as it is!! Labor usually runs between $1k-$1.5k unless you know some people... :bigthumb:

So what did you end up going with?? Air? D2 coilovers? I'm sooo undecided right now!!
