Hey guys, currently have my S13, finished all my bodywork, and before I get my new suspension and LSD, I want to know how hard it is for daily driving, especially in the rain? I was planning on going with a 2way Kaaz LSD and Super Tein Flex or Super Drift coilovers. Just wanna make sure this isnt gonna be too easy to lose traction or anything with.

i did have experience in my car w/ a 2way cusco lsd for 3 weeks in the rain...(oh and i have tein HE) i say as long as you run on decent set of tires and DO NOT downshift if you want to stop quickly, just use the brakes to stop. during the 3 weeks i had no problem driving in the rain. then again i was breaking it in...

my bro had an experience in the rain, where he downshifted quickly w/o heel to toe and the back end broke loose and came around. he came close to hitting an on-coming car.

if your good at rev matching on the downshift and have pretty good tires you'll be alright...as soon as my cusco gets back, that's what i'll be driving everyday....

hope this helps...

yep just echoing what the others said, its fine unless you drive like a tard. had mine in for a good while and no problems with daily. the best is when your going in and out of parking lots making slow turns and it sounds like your car is gonna fall apart and people are looking, and it chirps the tires and ****.

also its awesome when your driving somwhere you havent been before, and you see a speedbump so you get in the wrong side of the road so you can super angle your car going over it at like 1 mph and everyone is honking and your **** is just going SHHHHHKKKKKKKK on the speedbump. awesome.

It rocks for daily driving, but then again, I like sitting low in a fibreglass bucket with no padding and no sound deadening. Don't drive stupid and know what your car will do. 1.5, 2 way, I don't think there's much of a difference daily driving.

if you apply throttle, the rear will lock to a certain degree, depending on how you set the clutch plates. it will perform exactly how a locking differential is supposed to.

Well i really dont need a 1.5 or 2 way because i dont drift or autoX well atleast not yet, so would a VLSD be a good choice? i just want to have both back tires turning instead of one

well if you dont use your car for any kind of racing stuff, i would say just save your money. you arent gonna feel any difference if all you do is use your car for daily.

with an open differential, the back wheels do indeed both spin, its just that under load the differential will send power to the easiest to move side. if the load is even they will both recieve power. you can do a 2 wheel burn out on an open differential, the load just has to be equal on both sides of the car.

I wouldnt even say a LSD is good for Auto X... a VLSD might be alright, or a 1.5way, but not 2way. If you decided to get a little sideways, 2 way is the way to go.

^^ i agree...

if you don't plan on autox'ing or drifting much, save your money and buy a VLSD...or maybe get a S15 HLSD. no need to waste money if your not going to make full use of it...

just my 2 cents...

1 and 1.5 way diff are fine for drifting also, 2 way just helps with decel and braking drift

1.5 way is like "Ehhh I wanna drift buuut...." If you want to drift it, get a 2way.

VLSD... find one off a used S13 that had it, or a J30.. run a search and you'll see thats of cars they came off of... or you can order one from phase2 complete for 350 dollars

since you mentioned it...ok so which is the j30 lsd? is it vlsd,or hlsd,1.5 or 2 or what? cuz im thinking about getting the j30 (getting a good deal) but im not sure its for my driving purposes... i will be autoxing every now and then, and just daily driving an occasional drift here and there. what is recommended?

i believe the j30 is a VLSD.

for autox'ing...the VLSD made a huge difference from driving in an open diff. i think a LSD would be too strong on locking up on a tight course like autox'ing...the VLSD would be just fine.

for drifting...as long its the occassional drifting, you can drift on a VLSD. but i have drifted on a 2 way LSD (my bro's) and i have to say that the wheels stay locked longer and a bit easier to control the drift w/ the gas pedal and its alot easier to control the kick-back. w/the VLSD i noticed that i had to have the revs up pretty high to keep the wheels locked.

WELL IT LOOKS LIKE THE J30 VLSD IT IS. ONLY things is that you will have to use the axles as well because their bigger.

Are the clutch-type differentials really that loud with full intereior and stock diff bushings? And is it true the noise goes away after about 3000 miles?
