ok guys, i just went out and found a set of front JIC coilovers and bought 'em. They are slightly used and was told they were off of an s13. When i got home to install em i noticed the top plate studs on the JIC's are a bit further apart than my cars body holes. Im not sure of the model of coilover, there are no markings on it aside from the JIC emblem. All i can say is that they are all silver and are ride height adjustable only. My S13 body holes are aboot 4 and 1/8th inches apart while the studs on the JIC's are about 4 and 1/2" apart. Can i just buy new upper mounts? Someone told me to just drill new holes either in the upper mount or in the cars body but to me it doesnt sound like a good idea. Anyone have some ideas for me? can anyone tell me the distance between the studs on an s14 so i can see if the guy sold me s14 coilovers? Thanks in advance for your help!

Try fitting the rear coilovers on your car. If they are way too long, then they are probably for an s14.

I would much rather buy a new set of upper pillow mounts than redrill anything since re drilling would weaken everything, or so i would think. Someone must have come across this once before. It was suggested to me to redrill the upper mount or the body holes but im ot so sure.

You could easily re drill the upper holes. I don't think it woul be weaker, because the whole plate underneath the strut tower would still be there to support.

Yes i could redrill the holes but since they are all pretty close im sure there is gonna be some hole overlap and to me that would seriously weaken everything.I was hoping all the upper mounts were universal from each manufacturer meaning all JIC mounts would fit all of JIC's coils. I have emailed JIC and am awaiting a response. Id like to provide more info on the coilovers but i have no model name or number.thanks for all the help

You need a matched set of coilovers.

Or maybe just struts / springs. Sounds like you're in over your head as it is.

You can't get any more ghetto fabulous than having different brand and rate suspension coilovers front and rear.

lol, i know they wont match (spring rates) but for the price ive paid its worth it even if i only use 2 of em and go buy 2 more. my both rears are Tein Ha so im goin to look into buying 2 more Tein's. Was just curious if i could still set something up temporarily since i wont be racing the car for another year.

Im sure he got good deals on both sets, and it will work. Not ideal, but it will work.

Sure, it'll go down the road. Great. Is that the goal? balanced chassis? gone. And that's the only strong suit of the car. What now? Sell it.

half-measures and cut-to-fit never equal longevity.

I thought one couldn't get much more ghetto just having JICs.

If your gonna be "Racing" the car you need to kick those HAs to the curb. God knows when they were built... not that they're good for anything other than pimpin around town on to begin with.

Go buy two new camber plates and sell the S14 ones. I guarantee you that someone will buy them.

Pretty Pretty please don't go drilling any holes in the strut tower!!

FYI just about any camber plates will bolt onto any suspension set up.

Thanks for the help everyone. I was hoping to hear that most camber plates would just bolt up, lol. I went to install the rears yesterday and saw that the bolts for the 2 rear teins were also too far apart. I took the model number off the coilover and emailed it to teain. They said that its off of a 3000gt. Looks like im gonna have to return everything! One more question though, ive been doing some searching on here and have noticed most people dont like the Teins or the Jic's. I have read quite a bit about KTS though and have never heard of them. Are they any good? I have about 2000$ to invest in a coilover setup which will mostly be used for street driving for the next year, until i can get more power. Right now i have KYB AGX's with Eibach sportlines and find they dont lower enough. Has anyone had any coilovers installed for about a year? I would like to get some feedback about your coilovers and some recomendations as i dont know too many companies.

Again, thanks in advance for the help!

Get KTS they are highly used by people on this forum and I have heard nothing but great reviews. I myself run Ksports but that is because I am too cheap to fork up the extra $300 for the KTS.

ok folks, thanks for all your help but the suspension was returned to the seller the other day and i received all my money back. Turns out the rear Teins were for a mitsubishi 3000gt and i still dont know what the fronts were from, lol. Again thanks for the help i really appreciate all the information, and i will be purchasing some KTs coilovers, they look sweet.
