So as of last March I did a suspension overhaul and changed all the bushings, control arms, and coilovers. Now a few months later I'm having some troubles with one of my coilovers. The coilovers are BC Racing BR Type. I started noticing about two months or so a go a metal on metal clanking sound coming from the front passenger side. I checked everything out and everything seems fine. There are now loose bolts and there is no excess movement in any of the parts. But here recently the noise is getting louder and is only happening when just the passenger side wheel hits a bump or something and also my adjustment knob for the dampener has come off. I can still put it in its spot and still have full range of the adjustably of the dampener.

The only thing that I can think of is that the shock is blown already. Is this it or am I missing something else?

Is the spring perch allowing the spring to have slop?

Like the thing you turn with the little wrenches to adjust spring tension,or in some peoples case lower there car. Or more simply the two lock collars under the spring?

My k sports are blown in the rear and they are just bouncy so I wouldn't think being blown would cause a metal on metal sound.

The upper pillow ball mount could cause that, stance had a bad run of those a few years back, and I was one of the lucky ones to get a set, but every time I hit a bump I had a loud knocking/clunk.

Jack up the car, grab the wheel on the corner that the noise is coming from, shake it up and down(simulate hitting a bump the best you can) and listen for the noise. You can also use a jack under the tire to accomplish the same thing.

Kouki monster I did what you suggested and it turns out that the big nut on top of the pillow ball mount was loose. When I jacked the car and moved the whelked I saw it moving up and down. I'm surprised I didn't catch it before because the nut was almost off of all the available threads. I tightened the nut down and all is back to normal.

I'm glad it was something simple that didn't cost you anything. :bigthumb:
